Hi Darkhelmet, hi folks. Dont use a circle with 4 segments to draw a square. Use the Polygon Tool instead. With a circle, the smoothed properties of the endpoints will be set to true and if you extrude you will have to unsmooth the resulting edges. To get the square to have its sides parallel to axes, rotate it by 45° after drawing it, providing that you also drew the radius parallel to an axis. Just ideas.

Sigh, Thom... Don't draw shapes like that then. But yes, it happens. "As if..." however I'd remembered such a bug / report already - just not sure "where".

I haven't used post processing for landscape and other objects (yet). I do it primarily to adjust, brightness, contrast, and gamma.

Problem is: there's no access to dimensions via the SU API.

I actually purged components and materials (now there were a lot of these) when downloaded but it only shrunk it by about 10%. That motorbike is a killer.

For some reason, the Mac version of the Sketchup material palette/browser does not allow you to choose the destination of newly created the folders, and won't allow you to browse for external material sources. Hi Mary, File size of a model using images (photos you've taken) can go up to the skies if you don't optimize your images. It is a simple process you do in a 3rd party application (image editor) when you crop everything off that you don't need in the image, resize it to something "reasonable" (definitely somewhere below 1024 pixels which is generally the "limit" of OpenGL display SU uses anyway) and even save it compressed. As for your lockup after importing the GE snapshot - it can even be related to your video card/driver which you haven't said anything yet. If it persists, try to go to Window (menu) in SU > Preferences > OpenGL and unable hardware acceleration. If it "seems" to fix your problem, there's definitely something going on with your graphics system (maybe you don't even have a dedicated card just an integrated chipset).

Your right in thinking you cant use IES profiles in podium or SU, several of the other renderers can, though.

We have one other source of information. Of the people who have download RpWallMaker Free (which runs on both Mac and Windows), 1 in 6 have downloaded the Mac version. (1 Mac download for every 5 Windows downloads). One of the reasons we created these free products (RpTreeMaker Free as well) is to get more information about who uses SketchUp and how to reach out to them. (For instance, it is probably safe to presume that not all SketchUp users participate in this forum)

Coolapp. And yeah, what I'm actually planning to do is a kind of interactive walkthrough in my city in its different, historic ages. I've also been thinking about panoramas (rather than "real" 3D walkthrough) because they sem to be streaming better on the internet.

If it's an office computer, make sure that SU is allowed to communicate with the Internet (have a check at the firewall settings for instance). Network administrators tend to limit everything as much as possible.

Hi MGE, Unfortunately I doubt that you can access the 3D content streaming from GE servers AND not uploaded into the 3D Warehouse - which is generally the case with this "grey box content".
