I was able to get the middle button to work on a push-to-orbit basis by opening the Logitech settings window, finding the setup for the middle button, and setting it to "Other" and choosing "Middle Button" in the popup window. I assume this sets it to just send the standard middle button message without any other function, and that's what SketchUp is looking for.

I have no problems using a Logitech mouse with modified buttons, but did not change any that Su uses. Haven't done it in a while and not sure if you can, but if you changed a right or left or center wheel, perhaps a macro assigned to non-SuButton that can flip the selection both ways would help.

As has been said. If it's an empty SKP then draw a temporary line so that each of the CAD files imports as a component containing the geometry [with its original CAD name] - without that temporary line an empty SKP will get the first imported CAD file's geometry put directly into the Model without it being put into a component 'wrapper'). Then you can Import the files as components, selecting to preserve their origin etc in the Options dialog. They should now all come into SUp at their original elevations and insertion-points. Note that if they are 'miles' from the SUp origin you might need to 'select-all' and relocate them nearer to [0,0,0] or you'll get visual weirdity - random clipping etc...

Perhaps you could use an if() to identify what the users put in? certainly wouldnt be fool proof, though.

I have tried many times now, but i have so much trouble converting 'advanced' sketchup models to formats suitable for 3d printing and/or moulding.. It is really frustrating... I'm beginning to think sketchup is a waste of my time and i should consider learning solidworks or something like that.

@unknownuser said: Ah the good old days of pin bar drafting and mylar and rapidiograph, and sepia although I don't miss the smell of sepia eradicator...I'm sure that stuff killed a few brain cells of mine. I found out that the active ingredient in the eradicator was acetone. We quit buying the expensive special purpose eradicator and went to the paint store for our mylar eraser. And, we opened windows. Otherwise, everyone used Exacto knives for small corrections.

I was working on something like that. But it wouldn't update automatically - you'd have to make it recalculate again. But it's ended up in the back-burner for the time being due to other projects taking priority.

I found out from the source that the issue is by design. It has to do for when there are imperial and metric components mixed together under one parent shell. It had to be one or the other, and imperial won. So to answer my question and anyone else who stumbles across this... If your DC is in metric and you want to use this common trick to snap to increments =largest(100,round(current("LenX")/100)*100) You will need to apply an "inch to cm" multiplier of 2.54 to the current() function to avoid general screwiness when scaling. =largest(100,round((current("LenX")*2.54)/100)*100)

Hello, Sorry for not being clear with our question. We work with a mac so our materials manager doesn't look like the one in windows. Here are a couple pictures that I hope will clarify what we are trying to do. [image: dZW1_Picture2.png] [image: 2xT1_Picture3.png] [image: UeJA_Picture4.png] Thanks, TeamSDA

Glad it worked. Any believe me, everyone was born without SU experience. There are also things you can only find on the forums.

thank you all. i havn't seen that a material applied to a face is a texture. (dumb...isn't it!? of course its a texture....what else!? ) i always thought that the only way to get textures into skecthup is to import them. but now i got the hang of it. thx to all you helpers out there!

Yep, that's it! Thank you Ken I'll use the as_pluginloader.rb to recall set.rb and svg.rb when I need to import some svg files.

I don't know how it would work in Vray (but maybe it does as you'd need a separate alpha map to see through) but in SU, if you paint a face with a transparent png file, it will still cast shadows. Have a look at this topic (more exactly the post I'm linking) where I attached a small png file that could be used in SU.

In Style Builder you're limited to stroke widths of 6, 16, 32 or 64. You can make up to 10 strokes for any given length. You could try drawing some narrower strokes and adding them to the template. An alternative if you want your lines to show thinner is to export the images at a higher resolution.
