Hi Shokan, Have a look at this tutorial I also made for texturing arches: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=21847 Here is an image I made with this technique (the texture has been improved ever since and of courase, this is not Victorian but Ancient Roman but the idea is the same): [image: file.php?id=36098&mode=view]

Hi Lem, Zoom Window in SU before printing, or export the image as a jpg, then crop and fit to print.

@gaieus said: Hi Gregory, There are some steps involved in this. Unlock the Google Earth snapshot (right click > Unlock). Now enter its group by double clicking on it when you are already at the flat face, right click > Texture and select projected. Now exit the group, select the Paint bucket tool and hold the Alt key (it will turn into a simple sampler or eyedropper) sample the image from the snapshot and releasing the Alt key, apply it onto the roof. You can get better results if prior to this, you export the colour imagery from GE and reload the b&w one with this but in order to do this, you need to save the colour image while you are in the exact same view in GE as when taking the snapshot for SU. @Remus - the projection is needed prior to this as otherwise he will never be able to position the roof texture exactly to where it is. Awesome! That worked perfectly! Thanks a ton. I'll be spending some time mastering that skill, I'll be sure to post some screenshots once I get this first project done!

I had a feeling a question like this would have been covered in depth, but I wasn't quite sure where to look as I'm new around here still Thank you so much.

I don't believe that the problem lies with the recording of the screen shot. The video transitions are already choppy when played right from Sketchup or thru the Smooth Animation video. My problem lies somewhere in the basics of the animation programs I am using. I think it is partially that I am trying to use sketchup as an animation tool when there are probably better tools out there for this purpose. I just don't have the skills to use the more advanced animators at this time. But thanks for the heads up on FRAPS, I did check it out and it may come in handy at some point

Sorry about that Solo, I should have been a little more clear (or just attached a pic); anyway, i think found something that'll work...the Slicer ruby script. I should have done a little bit more researching before posting. But, thanks for the help all!

Dont know why its not exporting properly, but as a workaround you could use screen capture to record your viewport as you play the animation through in sketchup. Something like this would do it: http://camstudio.org/

I'll be blunt: SketchUp is not for creating toons. There are plugins for very limited animation like Mover.rb, but it's nowhere near as good as a properly implemented animation system. I recommend you look elsewhere before you waste too much time trying to do something SketchUp is not designed for.

As long as it is a backup copy, and if all you want is a look, explode the groups, and components, then stretch.

One more shot at clarifying my question, since I've made some headway. In the file attached to THIS post: the system of lines in the foreground is the one I'm working on, in which each 'leg' is shorter or longer depending upon it's distance to the origin of the whole system. The grid system in the background is not dynamic, but it's an example of how I want my dynamic system in the foreground to look in the end. Namely, the background system has faces, and the foreground system doesn't. My question is this: how to keep the corner lines independent so that they can grow or shrink according to each one's unique distance from the origin, without making them so independent from each other that they don't describe a face? Thanks! components mapping.skp
