Interesting method by TIG. I will have to try that.
In any case, I just bought the sMustard script, along with something they have that repairs the dxf.
Thanks for your helpful reply, mitcorb.

I need a tutorial on how to create faces(polygons) formed by the lines of a dxf drawing that I import from Chief Architect. I want to extrude these faces. Book, video, anything, I'll buy it.
Thanks.
I want to import a 2D dxf orthographic house elevation plain line drawing and convert this to polylines that Sketchup Pro can extrude the resulting polygons from. Do I need another software or can the import and conversion to 3D be done in SU Pro? If so, how?
Thanks.
I have a house elevation as a plain line 2D dxf drawing. How do I make it into editable faces to push/pull? I am a complete newbie.
Thanks.
I do not have Sketchup Pro. Is there a free skp to obj converter or a free 3d app that can do this?
Thanks.
Is there a reliable method for converting .skp models from 3D Warehouse to all quads? In particular, I'm looking for a dedicated converter or a 3D content creation software that is known to be good at it.
Thanks.
Here's a photo of the kind of stuff I'd like to try.

I wonder what book or online thing covers the advanced level a building like this entails, in terms of Sketchup's tools. I'd be looking into plugins, too. I've already bought smustard's boolean plugin ($10).
For a Victorian brick house facade, there are bricks placed in an arch formation over windows, and also designs made where a few bricks are set slightly forward of the surrounding brick wall as well as some designs where a few bricks are inset a little to create a design. How detailed can Sketchup get with something like this?
Does Sketchup have Boolean modeling ability, such as cutting out decorative scrollwork from a flat board?
