Blender should be able to read collada (SU exports into dae or kmz). You may have better results with older SU versions (SU 6 and 7 Pro are still available for download - after the 8 hours of evaluation period expires, they revert back to the functionalities of the fre version but these export options are there for the free, too).

What exactly do you mean with 'patterned mesh'? Can you use the sandbox tool 'Drape'? (be sure to make the curved surface horizontal, and the mesh to drape over it sit in the right position x,y-wise)

If you are getting the image from a web-site save it to a folder on your PC/MAC [it needs to be named something like my_pic.jpg or another_picture.png]. Now use Sketchup's Menu > File > Import chnage the file type filter to image formats and select the file desired - OK - it should be added to the model on your cursor, place/resize it... Use other tips to set its size more accurately for tracing over, locking etc...

@box said: There is a simple workaround for this that people often miss. Just draw a circle around your group of faces and extrude that. Tiny bit of clean up and reversing of faces and away you go. Haha.. I like this trick. I'll give it a try, I never thought about this technique before. Thanks for sharing

@mac1 said: @ryanty12 said: How do I scale the model so that 3/16" will equal 1'0? It is normal SOP to do all your model creation at a 1:1 scale and then to set a scale if you desire something different on the printed output. If you want to do that make sure your are in the parallel projection mode, select one of the standard views, select print preview ( I have PC so hope your mac is the same, if not check user manual). If you want to actully scale the drawing I would make a copy , draw a 12" line, then select / measure it with the tape tool and then input 3/16". That will scale your whole drawing by 1/64 ( 3/16 = 192/16) yup, thats what i wanted to do was rescale the entire model and that worked great. I appreciate it very much!

I've gone through the main tutorials, and browsed the case studies images. Some very exciting stuff in there. I've been remodeling our bathroom at home, and I might just draw it and post it, if anyone is interested. I custom built the vanity cabinet which needed to be extremely shallow (16") to accommodate the entry door location. Anyway, great to be here. Hi Gaieus, thanks very much for reply. I've made all the steps as you suggested and it looks better, but still not good enough. [image: curtain1.jpg] Perhaps I will need to use the plugs as rclub24 suggested Thanks again for your help... Cheers Michal

We indeed encourage plugin authors to update the first post of the topic instead of posting new versions somewhere on page 6 of a discussion (we cannot really make this a "requirement" however; everyone is free to post his stuff as he/she wishes). IMO this has become a general practice however (if you cannot even make it 100% sure they are following it). When you see the "updated" and similar words in the first topic title, it should be that way however (if the author took the time to edit the first post, he probably did so with the attachment, too).

I dont know if you can batch import inside Vue, but you can replace all the lo-res image files in the export folder with hi-res images...just make sure the new textures are the same format (replace JPG with JPG, or PNG with PNG) and named exactly the same. Then when you open the Vue file or open using the Python script, the textures will be changed. Edit: Make sure you COPY, not Drag and Drop your hi-res files into the export folder, or you will lose your original hi-res textures

@chris fullmer said: I really just need to remove that lofting tool. It was a great first try at lofting, and It still makes nice results, but there are so many better options out there... What I really like about your tool is the option to determine the amount of segments between each of the splines. I'm using sketchup to build models for a racing sim and the poly count is extremely important. Your tool allows me to have control over that very easily.

Well, you have just become a member of another forum which is quite well monitored by some Googlers. Maybe try there as well (I can add my own 2 cents, too).

Lesson learned; the tape measure tool always resizes the content of the context it is used in. If outside any group/component ("top level" or "model" context), the whole model while only the content of a certain groups/component you are editing. Fantastic. I should have tried that ... it makes sense. Can't wait for the weekend to try it out.

Note that a curved surface will always exist out of a grid or other kinds of geometric subdivisions. To see them, turn on Hidden Geometry in your View menu. If you want it to be more detailed, use the sandbox tools. The 'add detail' button is always nice. But if you need a specific grid, use the 'from scratch' button. It looks like a grid. This can be projected upon a curved surface with the Drape tool. If you don't see the Sandbox toolbar listed in View > Toolbars, you may need to turn it on in your preferences.

I am having this same issue with my new Mac. Late 2010 MacBook Pro with Geforce GT330M 512mb video card. Unable to fully access the features of the Entity Info box when any line based element is chosen. One can "tab" to the part of the window one cannot see to change a value (such as the number of segments of a circle) and modify the value there and have it take effect. One can use the size handle feature to increase the window width but cannot increase the vertical size to be able to view the rest of the window. I have restarted SU. Restarted the computer. Reinstalled SketchUp. Reinstalled the Mac OS using the combo update. To no avail. My old Mac Powerbook has none of these issues, despite having a paltry 128mb of video ram. I have submitted a bug report, if anyone else is having this issue please send one in as well. I suspect it is a function of the video card in these particular computers relative to the way this window routine is written. I have also noticed issues with the way the other windows expand under the other panes versus flowing them downward as a group and errors in them staying docked/stuck together. Thanks

Yeah, I've checked them out. Their numbers are impressive, but some of them are terrible quality, or so small you need a magnifying glass, and a large portion of their "blueprints" are just side views, or maybe a front view. And they only have a few of the ones I was looking for. I was hoping for maybe a source that somebody here has discovered that is not readily found in a Google search. Thanks for your reply, I'll keep looking
