Hi Gaieus, thanks very much for reply.
I've made all the steps as you suggested and it looks better, but still not good enough.
Perhaps I will need to use the plugs as rclub24 suggested
Thanks again for your help...
Cheers

Hi,
I would like to ask for some advice with adding texture material to the object imported from 3ds file.
I've impotred curtains from 3ds file which should look as in the image below:
After importing to the Sketchup this object looks like this:
I've made a "cleanup entire model" with cleanup.rb plugin and "Soften/Smooth edges" Sketchup option but it doesn't help.
What should I do with the imported object to obtain the result as in the first picture...
Thank for any help...
Cheers

I've run into that problem too. My solution has been to export from 3DSMAX as DAE file (Collada). That seems to import the geometries consistently for me into sketchup.
thanks for reply.. I've tried the OBJ format, but it doesn't work for me....
I'll try with DAE format..
cheers
Michal.

Thanks very much for huge info I have one more question (the last I hope:))
Could you explain this words.."select the edges forming the bottom edges of the swept strings, and the top/bottom edges of the treads"
Sorry but my English is not so good to understand all sentences.
It would be graet if you could select the edges which I need to make as a profile and rails on the picture which I've attached in first post??
I've tried to convert divided edges to curve by weld.rb plugin, but they are still split and I can't select them as one thing...
thanks again for your help...

My name is Michal and I'm new on the forum. I'm using Sketchup to visualize my new house which I build.
I have one question concerning modeling back side of the stairs. What is the best way to create smooth faces on the back side of the stairs? as in the attached picture..
I've tried to use Extrude tools plugin, but without success
thanks for any help..
