You cannot change it any more. It would affect ll connected geometry (and what would happen with the other circle at the other end of the cylinder?)

@unknownuser said: I would be curious what he's doing with the .jpg's. I wonder if he's just wanting to use the .jpg's as a replacement for thumbnails since they don't work for many people. If so perhaps, he should try MysticThumbs instead which would be a better solution. -Brodie One of the problems thumbnail processing may have is that "modern" thumbnail generators can make large thumbnails for Vista and Windows 7, but programs which haven't been updated much still make old XP sized thumbnails. Here is an image of "Extra Large" Windows 7 thumbnails for a folder with images, movies and SketchUp models: So things that want to process thumbnails well may not have much to work with with SketchUp thumbnails. The texture replacement from the materials editor is the perfect solution. Thanks Gaieus! monks

Wow, thanks a lot for this. I'll give it another go later when I get home following your instructions. Yes, I found quite a number of posts on this but the solution seemed to be something of a moving target as things have changed over time. I'm using drape in the sense that it's used in the GIS industry (as opposed to 3D modelling)- draping a texture over a heightfield (I guess that means orthographically projecting a texture onto it). The draping of geometry sounds very useful too. I did try to do this but I had trouble setting up the rectangle, but I've learned a few more things since then. Another problem I may have is that some of my models placed onto the terrain have become grouped somehow with the terrain mesh- I posted about this elsewhere. I may need to resolve that issue first. Dunno. monks

Hi Larry, It seems to me that there is a plugin that will do what you need but the name escapes me. I'll do some hunting but someone else may come up with the answer before I do. In the meantime, I had a poke at your model. I noticed a wee little line segment in the Left Side Wall component. You may need to deal with that in your model. I don't know if it will matter for your application but you may also need to adjust the axes for some of the components so the bounding boxes fit the geometry. [image: tMFq_spot.png]

I was suggesting that you contact them since you are using their plugin. I don't use it so they'd have no reason to help me with it. It would be better if you contact them directly so there's no one in the middle.

The DXF's imported 'text' isn't Text it's 3dText which is geometry that looks like text. It will import as 'geometry' [on layers corresponding to the DXF] - ensure that the layers are 'on' in the scene-tab used in the Layout viewport and that everything has been saved and the links updated across to Layout etc... You really shouldn't be uses lots of 'Text' in the SKP if you are using Layout. Layout has lots of Text tools of it's own that are better suited to this 'sheet' work...

In fat, you can press the arrow key any time - even after you started the move. First it does not seem to take effect but when you move your mouse a bit again, it will "jump" to that direction. So there is no problem if you forget first.

@unknownuser said: how to do when my surface is allready in form? i can't bend a surface to match the curve perfectly arround my door! You could also use shape bender which is better to curve around already existing curves. @unknownuser said: finally i divided my line of rounded bricks and rotated each brick texture one by one Well, that's also a solution - and I have often done that myself so don't worry. They look nice now!

Dan, There is a predefined attribute named ImageURL which you can point to an image using a url. For example, http://mysite/myimage.png Dynamic component predefined attributes: http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=114551

Stevo, You should make a simple plugin, 1st. For example, try having an message box pop up with the text "Hello". That's like 1 line of core code, but the rest will be a wrapper that creates the actual plugin. Check out these videos: http://www.youtube.com/user/ChrisFullmer#g/u Then you can try writing your plugin. Brake it up into pieces and get each piece working, before moving on to the next. For example, 1st piece might be to simply to rotate the selected group/comp 90 deg. For user input, you can probably just use an input box: http://code.google.com/apis/sketchup/docs/ourdoc/ui.html#inputbox You see that I went to the Sketchup Ruby API documentation, when I wanted to research how to do something: http://code.google.com/apis/sketchup/docs/index.html -Kwok

Ah, so you mean the welcome screen? Just uncheck the "always show on startup" box at the bottom left. [image: daqJ_WelcomeScreen.png] As for the endpoints; go to Window > Styles > In model > Edit > Edge settings and uncheck endpoints. Best is to do this with an empty, new file - then update your style (click on its image with the two, round arrows) or even make any other changes you like then go to the File menu > Save as template (and don't forget to check at the bottom left to use this as default).

There must have been an imported component/group with some surreal bounding box (because its component/group origin was very far away). This often happens when people import stuff from CAD and preserve the drawing origin (and then later move things to the origin but the original CAD block had its own origin at the World origin). You said you imported some SU models (components). I bet one of those was somehow made this way. When you explode such a thing and re-group it, SU will place the group (component) origin as close to the geometry as possible (ideally the geometry would be aligned to the current World axes and then the bounding box "fits" nicely to the geometry).

Were they high res textures? What happens if you paint on some of the textures included with SketchUp just as a test? Will they still disappear?
