The PushPull tool only extrudes one face at right angles. To extrude a face along a path you can either preselect the path of joined edges, then use the FollowMe tool and pick the face so it's extruded in one step... OR have no selection then use FollowMe, and then pick the face and it lets you dynamically 'pull' the face along any suitable path that it finds, click to stop or it runs out of suitable path edges to follow...

Can the models be used for commercial use? Yes. Essentially what the EULA is saying is that you may not put the models (model = individual component or model containing components) on a public site where anyone can download and extract the components from. 3D Warehouse and Google Earth are both such places. It does not restrict you from posting rendered images as posted here. Len Hordyk DynaSCAPE Software

Doh indeed. You wrote what you did but it was so illogical that my mind also skipped it and was wondering about some completely different solution.

@tig said: Why don't you post in the tool's thread and PM/email the creator - he is seeking feedback and ideas... Thanks TIG. Sorry only a newbie to the forum, but thanks for the direction. I have sent him a PM and hope to hear from him. Millzye 71

I recently was exposed to dynamic components unknowingly thru the Google Hohouse In a perfect world I would have a component library, but I don't use components all that often, so there is no need to add to my lengthy Todo list, "keep components uptodate" which I don't use most of the time. Hence all to often procedure has a habit of getting in the way of the real world. "Like have you not done the vacuuming yet?"

Glad you did. As to scaling things up, I think it takes a bit of practice to know when you'll run into the small face issue. Basically, SU won't fill faces with very short edges so the work around is to scale up prior to doing anything that would result in those short edges. The operations that typically cause the creation of those short edges are Follow Me and Intersect. My approach to dealing with this sort of thing is to make a component of the involved geometry before doing whatever it is that will cause the problem. Then I make a copy of the component, scale that copy up (without opening it for editing) and then edit the large copy of the component as needed. when I'm finished with the editing work, I close the large component and then delete it. This eliminates the need to scale back down and potentially have to move the component back into place. Of course you can scale the entire model if desired, too. My preferred method does require components instead of groups though. I'll add that it is rare that I ever find a need to explode a component or group after I've made it. I nearly always just modify what I've already drawn.

Thank you so much for making the plugin available, Tig This has solved all the issues for me. When I used V7, I was not using your exporter - Carrara has no special requirements - a common fault was reversed normals and unwelded verts. I am not getting this with your exporter. Thanks once again.

Thanks, Alan! A default template is a good idea, and I've got a few of those. I was just wondering about the default, though, because nothing is checked until I check "iso," and the screen does jump a bit, so I'm wondering what, exactly, is changing from the default.

Yes, no problem, as long as their SU version is 7 or more. If they have a version less than 7, you could save as a lower version before sending...

Hi Mike, I looked at the skp file. Let me itemize the issues. i) Face orientation. Try to make the faces oriented consistently. whitish is front bluish is back. It is not a show stopper (you can create the same textures for both front and back, but then the left-right sidednes of the texture becomes confusing. Please look at my attached file with the faces monochrome option to see what I did. ii) For the model that you have, you should better make two textures as you noted. When you try to make a single spherical projected texture the distortions become too large. You can look at the attached skp file to see how I textured the two sides separately. And then note that I left window sides etc out, because they force the mapping to be distorted too much. For this shape unwrap method does not work well. iii) The methodology. Tgi3D provides an initial mapping with a default texture (if the faces are not already textured). The next step is to edit the default texture to the desired texture, using an image editor. Since the image editor can not change the mapping your edits need to follow the mapping of the default texture. That is, say if the window is mapped to a particular rectangle in your texture image you need to place your window image inside that rectangle. In the attached skp file you will find two materials corresponding to two sides of the lander dome. The texture image you have provided of course does not have the correct placement. Now you have to basically cut paste rotate scale distort etc from your texture image into the texture images that tgi3d provided initially. you can PM me for your further questions if you want. regards Dropship send2.skp

You are trying to fly before you can crawl... Learn to walk, then run etc... If you can't explain to us what it is you want to do, then how can you explain it to yourself? When I try to write some code I write it down in words, about what I'll do and then what it does etc etc... That way I know the steps my as yet unwritten code needs to go through... You haven't shown what it is you want to do. I realize that English [hopefully] isn't your first language; but there's always Google-Translate to help you [ http://translate.google.co.uk/?hl=en# ] - even if it's not perfect we'll probably comprehend its meaning - alternatively you can write in your native tongue [I suspect it might be Italian?, or if it's not something too unusual] and it can be translated by us...

Hi Charly Thanks a million for that. You just saved me a whole night work. I have been playing with the rails to loft, instead of the lattice, I have done as instructed and it worked like magic. Thanks

Many thanks, jgb. Don't suppose you can help with the 'filleting' question? @jgb said: spogadog asked: Also, how do you DE-select unwanted lines/faces from an area you have clicked and dragged out for, say, re-scaling? Use the Select pointer/tool but hold both SHIFT and CTRL keys down as you click on unwanted lines or objects. Using only CTRL adds items to selection set, just SHIFT toggles items in selection set.

Dave, I thought about that but I am laying this out for the laser cutter and I am using standard wood sizes for a lot of the parts. If I did it at full scale and then reduced it down to 35% the wood sizes will also change and I would not be using 1/4" and 1/8" wood for the parts. Thanks, Larry

You could continue in this thread if it's still related to your kitchen project. Knowing several ways to do something is good because you may find cases where one way works and another doesn't or is much harder. Having a variety of options is always helpful.
