Thanks thomthom - the clipping bug was driving me nuts - I spent ages looking for what it was. And now I've moved back to origin everthing's fine.

This is really some system level issue with the codecs. Did you also properly install those downloaded codec pack? Which codec are you trying to use? Ultimately you can also export as an image sequence and compile the video in a 3rd party application like VirtualDub (or any other)

Yes, selecting the whole line and then clicking "entities" works well, I think I just wasn't reading the box correctly before. Changing the size of the endpoints is also a trick I wasn't aware of, and that helps, too. Thx again!

an iMac with shared video solution? SU needs a fully OpenGL v1.5 compliant video subsystem, preferrably a dedicated one not using the working memory of the system. run the MacOS update ("Apple Menu > Software Update") for getting the latest video driver for your system. hth, Norbert

Hi folks. By default, the Text Tool propose: 1 - The X,Y,Z coordinates for an Endpoint; 2 - The length for an Edge; 3 - The area for a Face; 4 - The name for a Group or a Component. Just ideas.

@jorgensen said: It works fine in version 01.05.30, but if I do exactly the same in the newer versions it looks very strange. Do you know if I'm doing something wrong, and it acualy works in the newer versions ? that would be nice. I have attached the texture I use, so you can se if we are referring to the same method. No - I've not got it to work. Still bugged. @jorgensen said: When installing it does not ask for a folder, just automatic installs it in sketchup version 7. Might be because I heve both 7 and 8 installed. hmm.... maybe... can't remember any more...

@d12dozr said: @cancincon said: How professional one can go in google sketchup? Can you show me some examples for "best quality" photos? As you can imagine, the models I do are mostly just cylinders that are connected, from biggest to smallest. So it doesn't really take so much skill to do this i suppose. But when i do it, it feels very pixelated. Are there any ways to make the curves smoother? Is it possible to import new textures into sketchup? http://www.solos-art.com/ Note those images are rendered with a different program, but modeled in Sketchup After you select the circle tool, type a number and hit Enter to make the number of segments in the circle that number (default is 24)...so for example type 48 to make the circle twice as smooth. Yes, File -> Import -> Select JPEG, PNG, etc (tick the button "Use as texture") Yes this is what i was asking about, thanks. Also thanks to you too broomstick, nice explanation

You can either import an image as a texture and paint it directly onto a surface, or you can import it as an image, get it into the correct position at the correct scale then explode it and project it onto a surface. You'll find both of these options over on the right hand side of the image import dialog box. If you are hoping to do anything remotely sophisticated for IMVU...like map an avatar...forget it. SU's mapping tools are nowhere near up to the task. You'll have to use a 3rd party application like Ultimate Unwrap 3D. Such an application can be used in conjunction with SU by using some of the UV Tools ruby scripts, which will allow you to map in UU3D via a proxy obj file.

Intersection always works in the editing context you are in. So while you were "outside" the terrain group, the intersection lines did not affect it as they were also created outside. Now as you have exploded the terrain, try to intersect again (if there is no volume intersection, select all you want to intersect and intersect with selected). Turn on hidden geometry and only select the faces in the terrain that should be affected - the time needed will be much less this case.

I can check the specs tomorrow when I'm back at the office. (just got home.) Was looking at octgacores - or even one decacore I think - but two computers with hexacores gave the most bang for the bucks.

I'm afraid that I don't use Vectorworks, so I don't know of any direct import option. However, you have answered your own question by saying you export to 3ds. A 3ds file HAS to be triangulated, because the format does not support quads. Therefore it's bound to come into vectorworks as triangulated...unles VW has an import option (like SketchUp) in which you can choose to have all triangulations removed from coplanar faces. You would be better using obj format as a go-between....if VW can import obj files...because it will not triangulate.
