I did see that the edges aren't coplanar. The way to start out with all your edges coplanar is draw a large rectangular face on which to draw the profile. Then delete the geometry that is not the profile.

Hi I have been having the same issues with a few of my models too. I purged all custom textures from one model and the issues seem to have disappeared for now. I had also fiddle with the openGL settings, turned them all off, restarted, turned them all on, restarted again. So something worked somewhere but if anyone knows exactly whats going i would love know... somehow I feel the problem will be back. D

@mac1 said: Petey Form the look of your pic it appears there maybe surface and edge issues. Can you post your model to the 3d warehouse First of all, sorry for the late reply! Fortunately the problem has been resolved I turned on hidden objects and simply traced the offset!

Fullmer's worked after I reset the axis on my component. So they would be correct along the line path. Thanks Now I can make paths easier for my special projects.

Hi Gaieus I've downloaded iRender and tried it with some models. The process is simple enough and it handles the section cuts but it takes forever to load the model in the renderer (65mb). I am way to impatient to see the first results.... For now I'll stick to native SU and Piranesi. Thanks for the help Andre

Thank you TIG and Johnny, I've think I've got it now. In a few days I will have some time to try it. The next time I run into a problem, I'll experiment more before I ask for help. This time I'd been reading posts and looking at tutorials for days and couldn't look at another one so I appreciate your taking the time to bail me out. Lloyd

You never said you wanted the DWGs importing so each went into a separate SKP file ! To do that you need a bit more code - start with an almost empty SKP add a small bit of geometry [dot at origin?] to force a new component on import; run the adjusted code, it gets the imported file name and imports it, saves the SKP with that name.skpe [into a given folder], then it erases the DWG-component and purges the SKP's definitions, and adds the next DWG and repeats saving as that name etc... until all DWGs should have been saved into separate SKPs...

There's 1001 bit shadows and sky ratio: http://www.1001shadows.com/en/products.html Maybe there are other tools, too, I have never needed them. It's a commercial plugin.

I totally agree with ledisnomad on his comparison between packages. I've found revit a very steep learning curve beyond the play about stage. The main trouble is that everything has to be a family/component/block, & the editor is not the most user friendly. Once you have a kit of parts, you are laughing, as you can create new models in no time. I think the cross breeding with AutoCAD will pay dividends in ease of use, but it has a way to go yet. Perhaps Vectorworks is another package to look at...

[image: 7zCi_cst-970_4_1200x900-01.jpg] [image: 8yRd_cst-970_1200x900-01.jpg] Hi Guys, Thanks for the replies Gaeius and Jean. 1st off to the admin, sorry for resubmitting posts, had a problem with my ipad. To let you know where I am at Gaeius. Im at the level of total noob. So much so to the point that I thought that the model of my v2000 was done by taking a picutre of it then using photo match to make the model LoL! I kinda realise now of course that that is not the case. So then I looked At Jeans file he gave me and looked at the model of the panel of the case and then I realised that the model could of course be made by using the simple tools of draw line, circle, arch and then push and pull and move. I have used these plus orbit etc when I downloaded the watercooling components, the fans and pump, power supply, motherboard, and also when I made the tubing in the model of myv2000 in my post. So now you know exactly where im at I hope. I will try by the weekend to have made a start on my new danger den case, I have attached the pic of the case for you to have a look at and to have as a reference point so hopefully you can help me when I get stuck and guide me through. Its amazing when a penny drops as they Thanks again guys my eyes are at least half open lol. Ow yea Jean starting from template, which should I select to start my model of the new case in. Also do I get rid of the lady when you 1st open sketchup, I like to call her Leila Lol! or she best left there. I have a feeling you say erase her but I thought Id ask anyway. Cheers guys for the help so far and your future suggestions.

So the problem is in the collada file exporter instead of the issues with the model's geometry, grouping, and textures? If so, would the simplest workaround be to use a converter like FBX? Or would there be an issue involving reworking/cleanup that would require the file to be imported in another modeler?
