Custom template question
-
I've just discovered (read in here) that I can set up my workspace the way I want to.. found many of the changes that I can make under the window preferences. I haven't found anywhere to change the background colors (ground and sky) for my workspace. Is there a place to do this? I have been using the random background plugin a lot but sometimes I just want to have either dark or light pallets for a particular model. It will be awesome to not have that girl appear on startup every time.

edited for spelling

It's a style setting and can easily be saved with your template. Go to Window > Styles > In model (the small house icon) > Edit > Background settings...

ty ty! I looked at those cubes and thought they were for changing line styles face palms
yeah! no more default colors!
um.. while you're around.. is there a way to kill off most of the default materials that come up in the materials tab that I never use? I set my front and back face materials, yet I do still get 7 (3 grey) materials that I end up purging.
oh and and.. is there a way to make projects that I made with a default template open without dragging that template back in with them?
I just opened a project with my spanking new workspace and thwap default colors and such are back -
Those materials are probably the shirt colours of Susan (whom you probably deleted from your template already). After deleting her, go to Window > Model info > Statistics and Purge all.
Now as for opening old projects with your new template settings; that's not possible. In fact, setting up a template this way is only possible because these things are saved with the file itself (templates are just empty - or sometimes not even empty - files stored in a special place). So once you started a project with a different template, you can only change it if you go through all these settings in that file and change them (or copy all the content and paste it into a new file - but you will lose scenes and such in that case).

ty again

You've just saved me hours of trying to figure out how when it's not possible. At least my new stuff will have better settings.
