Juan, 3D trees - especially at this density and amount - are just too many polygons and too much load for GE. What the 3D Tree Layer in GE does is that they have a certain level of detail (LOD) engine in them which will turn them less detailed when seeing from a distance and even 2D when seeing from a bigger distance. Even the close-up is a highly optimized way of displaying vegetation (not the way SU builds up these trees for sure). Many game engines work the same way. There is an interest at Google to eventually make this tree layer public and allow contributors to populate their own area with them but until then it is a futile effort to do this as it kills GE as you can also experience.

I had the same problem and I solved by turning the aero off on windows 7. For some reason, weird things happen when you turn on all the windows UI fluffy stuff.

It is a matter of preference - like the lens you choose when you take photographs. 35 degrees is equivalent to a short telephoto or a "portrait" lens, and if you prefer a more wideangle effect you can choose something at about 60 degrees. In SketchUp the angle is measured vertically, so on a normal horizontal monitor, the appearance is always somewhat more wideangled than in a standard camera lens, where the angle is measured diagonally across the picture frame. DCs should always be properly inserted from the Components Browser to keep all of their correct properties. However, Copy+Paste between open SKPs should keep a normal component's gluing and cutting behaviors etc, but obviously it can mess with a DCs inner workings. So... if you have downloaded a DC from the 3dW you should do a 'save_as' from within the SKP into which it arrived - so that it is then saved as an external DC-SKP in a sub-folder inside the Components folder set [i.e. it's still a DC with all of attributes and behaviors retained]. Then later on when you are in another SKP you should insert it from the Component Browser [via navigating to that folder, or subsequently from the Model's pane itself if already loaded] it should then insert and behave as originally intended... keeping its attributes and gluing behaviors ???

Check your axes are set to the original axes. Perhaps you have modeled upside down ?

Thanks for the input - Have solved the issue by eg: Walls - edit>select all & placing them back on their original Layer via Entity Info which has worked! Layer0 had remained On all the time as I always group & create separate Layers via Entity Info as I work, so not sure what happened but the wheels are back on!!!!

Thanks for the answer and sorry for the late reply: That plug-in didn't do what I needed, but I find an easy way of getting the view angles I needed; I rotated a square and made it the view angle. Pretty simple. Hope this helps someone else.

Digging up an old thread... The reason for this is that, like with forced 2-point perspective in sketchup, when you zoom in on a matched photo it is not a true 3d zoom like in a normal view. In order to keep the perspective the same, sketchup is effectively cropping the view. If it let you zoom in normally, it would change the perspective (the zoom tool effectively moves the camera towards whatever you're zooming in to). The way round this would be to 'zoom in' in the sense that a zoom lens on a camera zooms in - by changing the field of view. This can be done by typing in a focal length in mm into the input box when you're in the zoom tool, or by holding down shift and then zooming. Give it a try, let me know if it helps!

It really would be a good feature if it could be done. Sort of like you can shuffle history in Photoshop.

Dave beat me to it! BUT here it is anyway... The 'z-fighting' when two materials 'twinkle' is caused when you have two coplanar [or near coplanar] faces . So you seem to have some 'walls' with two [or more] faces Check if you have coincident groups/instances giving you two faces overlaid... Some windows are cutting faces OK BUT others are not! Have you some groups/components and other groups/components or faces overlaying them? Also it looks like you have applied windows onto faces that are inside groups/component... so although it might 'glue', it will NOT 'cut' a hole - therefore the window's 'glass' will z-fight with the wall face that is inside its group. If it is a gluing component, but it is not 'cutting type', then it will z-fight even if the face and component are in the same 'entities context'. So, always apply a gluing+cutting-component onto the face that is in the same 'context' [i.e. edit the group/instance and then insert/glue the windows on faces inside it - the windows will then cut holes in the faces they are glued onto].[image: MJJk_Capture.PNG]

Hi Guys, are there anyone on these boards familiar with roofing geometry? Could become a very interesting discussion topic?
