Hi folks. See this SU file for ideas. Square to round transition.skp Once this model is done, it can be used as a component and quickly resized to required dimensions using the Scale Tool. Of course, a dynamic component would probably save a few clicks. Just ideas.

The Query tool tip is very useful. I couldn't find it at first but saw that I had to activate it in my extensions panel first ; ). The good thing is that it's in realtime and I do not have to select an object or ungroup it. I set up a shortcut for it which works great. Thx Wo3Dan!

The best way for FF is to use the CTRL+F5 combo when the problem page is loaded.

David, You can open the user library by clicking the Go menu then hold the option key down, it will appear about half way down the list. To get to the system user library, double click the hard drive icon in the upper righthand corner. The library folder will show up in the finder window. Dan

Your pointers were very helpful and, because of them I've increased my facility with the bezier curves. Now I'm confident I can get the results I want - thank you. Inkscape was the model I had in mind when I did the first post, but I didn't consider the fact that it is a vector drawing program and SU isn't and I suppose that makes for a difference in procedure.

A texture of squiggles or footprints (feetprint?) should be easy to make tileable. And textures, like the SketchUp sky on glass, are already repeatable. [image: NSP9_trans6.png] (You can see here, it repeats from left to right, and top to bottom) I could superimpose two repeatable textures by finding a least common denominator, and adjusting the width one a but if necessary. For instance, if I was imposing a Sky with a 5' repeat width onto a tile pattern with a 2' repeat width, I could either create a 10' texture - with 2 skies and 5 tiles already repeated, Or, when there is not an easy answer, I could stretch one ot the other - 3.g. stretch to sky to 6; and repeat 3 tiles per sky.

If you've cash to spend there's also TGI3D and MoolTools. If you've a king's ransom there's Deep Exploration.

Interesting, same end result I got. However, I never ever did (knowingly) a projected texture, and I have no idea of what use it really is. I just played around a bit and the simple fix is to bucket (re)paint the distorted faces from the materials drop-box, not from entity info, as I had always done before.

I've found that using sketchup to model building from CAD files a -GREAT- way of finding issues with cad plans. I usually model each floor as a group and then stack them. Its a lot easier to see where walls don't line-up 100% or where certain details are missing in elevation from a 3D model than from trying to line-up cad drawings.

Hi, Fredo's is pointing out the load errors from other rubies, it's meant to... the errors are all SketchUp example rubies. It looks to me like you moved those out of their folders... Do you have a folder called Examples? in the plugins folder, if not make one and put those into it, except ocean ruby which should be in Ocean folder if you do have 'Examples' folder you could try changing it to 'examples' i.e. lowercase. failing that... if you put the example.rb into the Examples folder [both are in the plugins folder] that will stop the messages. also do the same for ocean_extension.rb into Ocean folder... if your trying to learn ruby [which is what they are really for] load them from ruby console and see what errors you get then. or it may be a Lion issue... john

Without seeing the file itself, it's a little difficult to tell. It may be that there is some problem with the relationship between the frame component and its origin, which results in it displacing itself when scaled...but without being able to examine the file, it's hard to say.

TIG's right; House builder is the only one that comes to mind. Or seing you use GOH's 1001Bit tools why not just use the "create rafters or joists on selected face' tool. Only difference is you're selecting a vertical face with a bit of clean up.....

If I understand your question right, you want the Intersect tool from the Solid Tools set. You'll need Pro for that.

Now, if that were a highway ramp, you'd need to set the inner radius curb a bit lower than the outer radius curb for the duration of the turn. Just an observation that does not have anything to do directly with the problem at hand.

Hi TIG, thanks for the tip. @tig said: Bear it in mind for next time... That's the big problem! Often you can't remember on the name of the corresponding plugin. I think many of us will have the same problem. I have to create a list with small notes for the plugins that are used less frequently. Charly
