@gaieus said: The general workaround is to scale the model up by 10 or even 100 temporarily, do the follow me (or other) operation then scale it back.....In any case, scaling is the trick. Correct - that was successful . Thanks for your help [image: penndishcorrected.jpg]

@mwm: In my workflow I group/component everything that is a physically distinct object for the most part. I feel like it makes the model behave more like a real world object and is easier to edit. I do not use any geometry that is not in a group or component because it always seems to create way too many problems when I move or alter things. I use components for anything that is identical or symmetrical so I only need to modify one of them or one side of it. In this case each stud is unique so I use groups. This way if I duplicate a stud and alter one of them later they both don't change. I use layers for assemblies that are related (wall framing, roof framing, wall skin, windows and doors etc) I use sections seldomly since SU doesn't render solids I find them to be of limited use for my work. In this case I am modeling the walls due to the complexity of the angles involved. I have a 5 man crew at the moment and If I can give them a plan with the angles and lengths called out it makes the work much quicker. I am in Taos

If you do actually need fancy text effects like this in geometry, rather than as an imported images, then the best way of doing it would probably be to use CorelDraw or Illustrator, convert that text into segmented curves, then import into SU via dwg format. Shape Bender will work...but only up to a point. Corel/Illustrator tutorial here.

I guess if it is a dedicated card (i.e. there is a slot for it to insert), you can replace it. Of course slots are also different by time.

If the image lines are say 1 pixel thick when you zoom out they'll vanish - but then of course thin mortar joints in masonry can't be really seen from a distance either ! Try making the fully black lines in the image 2 pixels wide and see it that helps... You can imagine if the images lines were 10px wide you'd probably see them ! Edges/profiles are in a specified pixel width, irrespective of their distance from the viewer, so an edge is say always 2px wide no matter where it is in 3d; but images have a total fixed pixel width, so if you move far enough away they will become feint or invisible - if a whole image occupies just 10px 'on screen', but its 'real' size is let's say 300px, it needs to be 'down-sampled' to fit into the 10, so detail is lost ! ... The converse of that is that multiple edges when seen far away can look like a 'black=blob' because they all become 2px each, fitting into a small screen area of a few pixels, leaving no visible 'gaps' between each other !

The Axes tool interrups an operation. So assigning the shortcut sequence to a key allows you to see where blue is pointing at. [Ecs] ends the interruption. I must admit, not as useful as toggling 'Color: by axis <> all the same'. I've always wondered why toggling endpoint's visibility on/off isn't available in the 'View' menu, nor in the shortcut list discussed here. Unlike profiles, depth cue and extentions. It's just missing! We always have to dig into Window > Styles > Edit > Edge settings to reach it. Or have it saved in a scene. Toggling by pressing one key would help. (mentioning this at the risk of now being "sentenced" to contribute to the 'Dooh' thread)

Funny you should say that.... I still don't understand what TIG means about only doing my Sketchup modelling during daylight hours ? The wierdo mad script to set the shadow clock to real time has no effect (on my iMac) to the Sketchup editor.. it doesn't go dark, I don't see glorious sunsets or sunrises...

As Dave says the load order of menus AND toolbars is determined by the name of the .rb file that is either is the whole script or loads another script from a subfolder [common for more complex tools]. Renaming the files means they load in a different order. If you do rename files make sure you keep a note so if you install an update you won't get duplicated tools loading. The 'alphanumeric' oder is 0-9A-Z with no noticeable differentiation between upper and lower case letters. Names starting with !#~ etc will load in that order, before '0'. Some files need to load early and already start with those characters, don't change those, and ensure they don't loose their early 'slots'... So a renamed #Zorro2.rb will load well before Aardvark.rb etc... This tweaking of the 'load order' still might NOT produce alphanumerically perfect lists! For example a [hypothetical] script named 'TIG-aardvark_and_zack.rb' would place the two tools that it creates [named 'Aardvark' and 'Zack'] in the menu/toolbar list where 'T' falls, because the .rb file's name starts with 'T' - you can't make the 'Aardvark' and 'Zack' tools 'separate' because they are both loaded, created and the menu/toolbar lists made at the same time as the one parent file is read by Sketchup; you can move the pair up and down the list by changing the initial letter of the parent .rb file - e.g. 'Aa_TIG-aardvark_and_zack.rb' or conversely 'Za_TIG-aardvark_and_zack.rb', BUT the two tools it makes will always appear next to each other in their listings !

It seems that whatever is in your bzier spline... folder, should be copied one level higher (straight under the plugins folder). You unzipped the archive keeping its "wrapping folder" instead of moving the content of that folder straight into the plugins folder.

John, Thanks for your reply - I've only just spotted it. .......... @jbacus said: . Is there something about our old plugin that you prefer over ESRI's native support? john . ........... The short answer to your question - it works !!! .......... The original @Last / Google plugin worked well - especially when exporting a TIN (Terrain Model) from ArcGIS to SketchUp. FAST export of Terrain models with no holes / slivers etc. It gave a very good result. It was extremely useful. This functionality (TIN Export) seems to have disappeared using the method described in the link you posted. Comments from other users at that link seem to support this view. .......... If the Google plugin could be updated to work with SU 8+ and ArcGIS 9+ it would be much appreciated ........... Regards Howard L'
