@unknownuser said: I* have my own little wish list for sketchup.. which involves things I really don't understand but would learn. Skinning and rigging of avatar like models*. Currently, sketchup is the red-headed step child for virtual world clothing and animation creation without those abilities. Now if there are plugins that do this, I have not found them. +1 I might even be able to teach you these things as I have plugins (and have used them!) that enables such things for using at the other place! (they were made specifically for the other place. Won't work for Nvo. ) I know there is a plugin for this somewhere, and I can't find it, and really don't think Sketchup should be a 'plugins operated program', especially for simple things as my next wish: I want "In Model" to be MY default Materials window thingy! So, maybe give us that option in our preferences? wonders why Google doesn't look at some of these plugins made for simple tasks and just implement them into the program. I'm pretty sure the developers make them for us who want ease of use, and probably wouldn't be offended if Google helped us get rid of plugin bloat by adding these simple tools. Hint hint.

Thanks TIG, I was able to reproduce what you did. With the central rail the shape seemed to flatten out to much at the point so I did one without the central rail and it looks better. Seems that the key is that all sections have the same number of segments and determining just how many segments are required to get a smooth surface. I will probably make a mold for this piece and make it out of fiberglass. Thanks, Larry [image: 0L0g_NewTailCone.JPG]

Not flash based but the engine is javascript (if I am not mistaken) if you mean the SketchUp Web Exporter Plugin (still in "Beta" and Windows only)

If you want to cut into nested geometry you have to press CTRL first, see original post: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=16038#p124862 I must say it doesn't work for me on Mac.

I know of no renderers that will render a section-cut from a SKP. You have to make a copy SKP and chop it in half using Zorro on the section-plane and SectionCutFace on the faces... It's a pain but as far as I know it's the only way...

you should get more than you will get... none of my clients ever want to pay for extras like movies or rendering. so other will have to tell you what they're getting but I do have this survey of industry professionals of which I took part. http://www.cgarchitect.com/2009/11/cgarchitect-2009-industry-survey-results---spotlight-on-the-future-of-the-architectural-visualization-industry [image: ASAI2009.007.jpg] [image: ASAI2009.008.jpg]

@gaieus said: You could group the model by layer with this plugin and then colour those groups (need to remove all previous materials first I guess) http://www.smustard.com/script/GroupByLayer i dont wanna work that hard . well the building is white and still in design stage. so... we're changing stuff evry now and then, manually painting is not a good solution

Hi Tig, I've been looking for a solution to the above problem 'projecting onto multiple planes' with no luck. I need to create an anamorphic type image (similar to top photo) in sketchup...however the type needs to be projected onto a set of steps, i.e. numerous planes. Is there a command/tool that can do this? I dont think the Drape tool will work in this instance. Thanks in advance

Your link goes to the "Red carpet club" so no-one without a Twilight license will be able to read it.

If you use autotoilet at all, you should use the snap functions. But, just because you can preset automatic snap to intersection, endpoint, midpoint, apparent intersection, and so on, having too many of these running is where the problem arises. There are instances where you may be in a hurry, and clicking just so, will confuse the program. It will send a vector off into either Z+ or Z-, but look like it connected with the target, and the problem becomes cumulative. In the 2007 and up versions there is a properties side window, by which you can modify a lot of values. Doing a box select without an initial command will display the grips. Expanding the properties side window will allow you to step through the entities types to verify their start and end values, their z values and so on. You can overwrite or edit in some of the fields.--Just another method.

The string 'book' does not occur in Slicer.rb code OR any of its loaded code later. So something that was loaded just before is corrupting the load. What other things are loading ??? [Unless you have edited the Slicer script with a word-processor and formated it, thereby breaking it, it has to be something breaking earlier...]

@unknownuser said: I don't know if I really understand your request, but here is my answer [attachment=0:6mcjm8ou]<!-- ia0 -->Distrib.skp<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:6mcjm8ou] There is a component in a component, you choose the number of sub component and you can stretch the mastercomponent along the red axes. The sub components will be placed at X = Copy * (Master!LenX - LenX)/(Copies + 1) You must fix the LenX of the sub component to avoid to transform them when you resize the master component. I'm trying to do something similar to some of the typical fence direct components (DC's) that are floating around. I have LenX of the subcomponent fixed, and the number of them is being determined by dividing the Master!LenX/LenX. Additionally, I'm trying to use the 'INT' math function to round-down the number of repeating SC's, to keep the total length of them to less than Master!LenX. LenX is also the "spacing", as the sub-components are touching each other, so there is actually no space between them. Thanks.
