It may be rammed earth, but that earth must have been mixed with a little portland cement, which is common. I just assume this from the color in the image. But you could shine a blue tinted light at something and get the same effect in a photograph, couldn't you?

Hi, Laura: Your question suggests that you need a Rendering Application for shiny reflective surfaces. Sketchup is a modeling program. It uses one camera, and one light source- the sun, for shadows. You can apply a picture of a shiny reflective surface to the Sketchup model as a texture, and for a fixed scene.

You could also drag the renamed components from the In Model library to another library which saves you the step of right clicking and using Save as...

Thank Roger and Gilles... I will check those things out soon. Both looks very interesting but the tools from Thomtom reminds me of Artcam. It turns a 2D Image to a 3D model. I think I've seen the demo in Youtube.

It depends on if you want to have a texture or a object (like a standalone face as a fence). For making materials the how-to's above are correct. If you want to have a "standalone-object" like fence, people, tree whats-of-ever you'd have to do it like this: import image with transparent parts (png file) explode image trace the object and delete transparent parts to get correct shadows to automate that you could use TIG's ImageTrimmer plugin (search the forums) which does that job for you

In the "select from list" function, the "value" is something between value and index. This value must be unique but can be anything, number, text or function. I think about two ways to correct your problem : Dirty but easy way: Play with the INT function In your list, just use a decimal value to make each value unique and when you use the value just ad INT(value). The "Electrical - Other" value can be 20.1 and "Civil - Asphalt" can be 20.3 so they're unique, but is you ask the INT of them they return 20 as you want. Of course, that works if you only need integer values... Cleaner but indirect way: Use a CHOOSE and OPTIONINDEX In the list, use a unique value for each to avoid the error, but this value doesn't mind. To have a value, use the OPTIONINDEX function to return the position in the list and use the CHOOSE function to give the value you need. Yes, the brain is very colorful, but as soon as it is exposed to air, it reverts to a uniform grey color. Or, maybe that's the "color by layer" effect at work? I truly didn't think about that when I uploaded the model. I guess a colorful brain is kind of strange.

You should be able to use the Drape function in the Sandbox Tools to apply your lines to the Google Earth terrain. Once the lines are draped you can modify the terrain to make it more accurate according to your survey. Curbs and planters should be modeled, not sculpted out of the terrain. Others here will have ideas I am sure.
