Is this a solid?
-
I've tried sending this design to get 3D printed, but had it returned to me due to unclosed contours. I've used the Solid Inspector plugin, but it didn't show me any errors. And entity info tells me that this object has a volume. Can someone tell me what the problem is? Also, do blue faces on an object cause it to be not a solid? Do I have to reverse those faces?

Hi Joanne,
Yes, your group is a solid. There were a couple of softened edges. I wonder if those or the guidelines could have had something to do it it. Try the version I have attached.
By the way, it is a good idea to keep your model close to the origin. When I opened your model I found the group was a long way above the origin. I'll guess it is due to a scaling operation and you scaled the thing down starting from a bottom scale handle instead of from one on the top.

In addition to what Dave says, I'm thinking its either the blue faces or the part is too small. To fix the blue faces, just right click on a white face and select "Orient faces".
What material are you thinking to print in? What format are you exporting into to get the quote?

Oh, yeah. I forgot that I corrected the face orientation in your model before I uploaded it.

Thank You, Dave and Marcus! The new version got approved for 3D printing. It must have been the blue faces and/or soft edges. Good to know.

Excellent! A good example of how good housekeeping in your model can pay off.
