      Hi all,
I am relativly new to Free SU and have been playing with it for a couple weeks on and off and i finally have something I need to use it on and I am having issues. I have created a 2d and a 3d design and am having printing issues. I created a 140mm x 240mm rectangle and put about 12 small circles on it to mark holes to drill in a piece of acrylic. Just want to print the top and I can do that, however, I am off about a millimeter or so on everything but my sketch shows accurate dimensions. IHave made sure I am using the top view and camera is paralell projection. I also made sure the print preview was set to 1mm = 1mm on both settings and I am not trying to scale. It should easily fit on one sheet of paper with about 1/2 inch all the way around it. It prints sort of close but not at all close enough. 240mm in design print 239 and 140 appears to be 140. The circles are all over the place by about 1 to 2 mm. Please help, I am guessing I am doing something dumb because I could not find anything else like this without getting into .00002 mm or something.

      Thanks,
      John

It might be the printer. It sounds as if you've done everything correctly as far as SketchUp is concerned.

I changed 1mm to 1mm in the print options to 1"=1" and that brought me closer but still .5mm off. I also hooked up my HP 8100 laserjet printer as apposed to the hp inkjet i normally use and they are both off. Any other ideas? Does anyone ever scale to make their print correct to the sketchup drawings? I do not want to have to do that if I do not have to but ..... And I am not sure if scaling would not make worse or fix the other dimensions in the sketch's.

OK, while waiting on the moderators to post my last findings I looked around the net a bit and ended back at sketucation. One thing I did not do when I tried the other printer was to go into the print settings and select it as the printer to use. I did that and am quite a bit closer now. I need to do some fine measuring to see where I am at with the print at this point. Before I was off a noticeable amount and as I am using this as a template to drill holes in acrylic and the holes have to be ligned up and they are only about 2.5 mm wide, it was not going to work for me and other projects in the future would worry me as well. I think I am set now. If not I will let you all know. By the way, can anyone tell me when I will not have to wait on the moderators to post my messages? I thought I read that only the post will have to go through them and this is my 3rd and waiting on my second to go live. Thanks, John
