New update won't open a couple of files
-
Did you try repairing the install?
I've noticed no speed gains or losses in this release when it comes to file opening/saving.
-
We are experiencing this on 3 different mac machines in the office?
Not sure how to repair an install on a mac other than trashing the file and starting over.
Maybe a mac thing?
-
Are you running the latest OSX?

Hey Rich,
I have now tested the same file on 4 different mac, of various flavors.
I just ran the same file on my mac pro running snow leopard and it opened with a snap, just like normal.
The two imacs and laptop are all running Lion, so up to the date software a month ago (haven't made the move to mnt lion yet on any machines) These all had this crazy minutes long lag before the beach ball stopped spinning. Seemed like everything opened just like normal and then, just as it would ordinarily be ready to go, the ball would start spinning.
had a bit of a panic there for about 30 minutes, though

My files are opening, but I seem to be having issues with layer and section cut states in scenes. That is, layers or section cuts that were on are now off and vice versa. It doesn't look like I've lost any actual information, but it is going to be a royal pain to go through my current projects and check to make sure everything is correct.

I am still experiencing horribly long opening times for some files. Seriously taking 5-8 minutes for some that used to open in30 sec. And it makes no difference whether I re-save it under the new Sketchup, wither.
I really hope this gets fixed and I must say that, for a first maintenance update under the Trimble flag, this is not what I was hoping for.
I haven't noticed any layer on/off issues, but that would drive me crazy!

Got some sample files for people to test?
-
Unfortunately, the two that I have experienced these delays on are under a NDA.
If I run into this with one that isn't, I will, for sure, post them up
-
Haven't seen any issues here but my files aren't really huge.

Found out that the section states was caused by the View > Section Cuts had been unchecked. This happened with a couple different files, but not with others. Weird. The layers are a bit more random. Oddly, it seems like just for the scene that was open when the file was saved.
Once corrected, the files seem to be ok - that is, once I set the Section Cuts and layers, update the scene, and save the file the file is correct the next time I go into it.
It just seems like an odd glitch for an update that is billed mainly as rebranding. The other items mentioned in the release notes don't look like they'd affect file saving.
