Physics-based engine takes constraint and simulate the result of a movement, considering these constraints (joints, gravity, etc...). In Animation plugins (like Animator), you really specify each movement of objects and cameras. So it's not a simulation. Indeed, you have more control on the result, since it is always exactly what you designed. Both have their learning curve and need practice.

You can try extensions such as TIG's Solid Solver and ThomThom's Solid Inspector2 and CleanUp3 however if your model is as much of mess as you imply, they will likely not be able to fix everything. Probably there will be things that will require human decision making to repair. It doesn't help you now but if you know that a 3D printed model will be required it would be best to model that in mind from the beginning making sure that all bottom groups and components are reported as solids. Solid groups and components tend to be cleaner and are easier to work on so there's additional benefits to making solids from the beginning. You don't have to collect all of the groups and components into a single solid for printing, either. As long as all of the objects are solids, it should print fine.

@baz said: This post heading is misleading, it looks more like a question rather than a 'How To'. It might be an idea to rename your post with the prefix: 'Tutorial'. As in: Tutorial: How to Change the Sketchup Measurement Unit You might also mention that plugins are available to change units on the fly. Very useful, for example, when reading boatbuilding plans. I am curious as to why you wished to share these very basic settings. Is this something you have had difficulty with? Cheers, Baz yes, i mean so. thanks for your suggestion daz, i fixed it soon I really enjoy sketchup and I would like to share this basic experience even though sometimes I encounter problems with sketchup.

Thanks a lot pbacot, for the moment I don't know how the roof and the frame were built. I effect the house is built with only bricks and sometimes few concrete. The builders took everything they had on hand and they didn't have enough quantity. There is absolutely nothing right ! But really no walls and roofs are straight. It's a very good exercise ! Actually i need to make good exterior construction with the walls, because i need to adapt a verenda with existing walls. For the moment i don't need to touch the roof. the roof does'nt need renovation. I understand your process to built this type. You are right about the roof, it's better to draw all the wood, like this we can make exactly the same "operation". When i go to the house i'll take measure and picture to draw the roof at 100 % with the wood. Thanks for your request and your help Pbacot ! If you want see the finish draw it's with pleasure !

In the Mac version of SketchUp, none of the tooltips in Tool Palettes for extensions work in horizontal configuration, even with the extensions that come with SketchUp such as Advanced Camera Tools and Sandbox tools. Large Tool Set and Solid Tools are exceptions to this as they have two columns of icons and don't flip betwen horizontal and vertical so the tooltips always work in those two. The tooltips can work in vertical orientation, but only if you change to vertical then restart SketchUp. If you leave all your tool palettes vertical, the tooltips will work even after closing them and opening them in different SketchUp sessions. This is not a great workaround though as I'd prefer the long ones to be horizontal as my screen width is bigger than its height. To switch to horizontal, drag the tool palette to the top of the screen. To switch to vertical, drag it to the left of the screen.

I think you'll find it difficult to do in SketchUp. I'll wish you success, though.
