Hammered "wrought iron" surface
-
I'd like to model a towel hook that I can export to a STL file to print. A rough version is below. However, I would like to give the surfaces the appearance of hammered wrought iron. That is, I would like to put a number of small, spherical indentations on the surfaces, with some variation in the sizes and scattered randomly. For simplicity, this could be limited to the flat surfaces.
I would appreciate any suggestions as to how I might model that.

You could just do some randomly sized spheres and intersect them with the surface.
Here's a quicky.

Thank you, Box. That sounds like a great plan. I appreciate the help!
