@bob james said: @bmike said: Does the Space Navigator stall if you move the mouse at the same time as trying to orbit or Zoom with the navigator? No. And that's one of the great features. well then something is wonky with mine. if my mouse is moving, the orbit / pan / etc. is really choppy. if i keep the mouse still it flows nicely. Video: https://youtu.be/MU7Y9EZ_cnk As soon as I bump the mouse, or move it, the flow gets choppy.

"Also, What is the usual set back of the baluster from the front of the rise and the face of the stair carriage?" Typically, the face of the bottom of the first baluster on a step aligns with the face of the riser and carriage below, as illustrated in the image below (from the WM Coffman Stair Co.). If the change in baluster spacing where the stairs transitions from straight to curved is bothersome to you, you might consider a closed stringer design instead. [image: VGA5_WMCoffman.jpg]

It's worth noting that you can move points with the move tool. [image: RdcS_Move.gif]

William, you could do all that although I think there are a few extra steps in there. In any case, if the parts are drawn to include the joinery, the Move tool would be the appropriate choice for changing the sizes of the parts. But if a component has curves, it may be necessary to redraw at least part of the component. For example, it's not likely that either the Scale or Move tools would be appropriate for changing the length of the top rail on this plate rack. [image: 8494123260_2a79ec9b8a_z.jpg] Or the horizontal curved rails on this bed. [image: 6161889959_a6a7442385_z.jpg] It might that you could make the needed change with a combination of the two but it might be faster to simply remove the existing curves and redraw them. There are typically other details in furniture that don't scale properly and would be difficult to code into a DC. If there are only a few options like 3 different sizes of a bed, it would probably involve less time up front to just make three different models and save each one as a component to use in other projects.

It would certainly be helpful is susan would post at least an example image of what she's after. Perhaps I misinterpreted the term "umbrella group" to mean a parent group containing the child groups as in my second screen shot. You are right that in most cases, I think it would be desirable to create the edges from intersection in the context of one group or the other.

Anyone interested, on another forum someone's explained to me that in the first image what I've labelled #2, the white squares, is a dormer. That makes sense to me with what Dave said earlier about #3. I've actually e-mailed the UK National Trust to see what they could tell me about that round yoke. I'll post back with their answer in case anyone's interested.

i don't run any of those.. but the problem seems to have gone away. i disabled Fredo scale and a few other plugins that I don't need on a daily basis and it seems to have corrected itself. will reply back if i find things get wonky again.

@mm88_mm88 said: Thank you for your reply. Tracing the edge on the inside, it's possible to separate it. Probably the .dxf file is imported on two separate layers. There's a way to merge the layers? thank you In SketchUp, layers do absolutely nothing to separate geometry. It would be a good idea, however, too put all geometry on Layer 0 where it is supposed to be.

@cotty said: Make sure you've downloaded Make and not Pro. Make install -> 30 days PRO trial -> Make PRO install -> 30 days PRO trial -> PRO (don't revert back to Make, you need a PRO license to continue) this is true for SU2015, it changed in recent releases

Pixero, just a question, I read in another post that you were using Plant Factory. Can you export in a LumenRT native format and if so can it be set up as the plants in LumenRT, where a proxy can be inserted into SU and when brought into LumenRT it's replaced with the high poly version?

For the RB to load properly, you need to have delauney2.rb in the Plugins folder... Unfortunately that is a very old file. It is not packaged with the affected ZIP. It is also no longer available at the crai-Depot... Here's a copy from my archives... BUT I really do recommend you remove the faulty old RB, and get one of the better/newer Volume tools - see the PluginStore or EWHouse... delauney2.rb

I had this sorted almost immediately after posting the initial topic but I was having the same problem as yourself, Box. It must have to do with being a new member. After posting I edited the post as I'd forgotten something and noted an error, which apparently requires awaiting moderation if you're a new member. Well, then no-one put it through so I couldn't tell everyone the good news until much later. Then I edited that one (my keyboard is old so I make errors a lot) and it disappeared for a bit. So, I'd love to have my questions answered about SketchUp's faces and verts as compared with programmes like Maya and its polygons and verts, and additionally, in future, I'd like to provide the information that's apparently missing. What should I have done? just attach the file? I suppose I'd just assumed I couldn't possibly the first person to have this problem and that someone experienced would tell me it was common and how it's fixed. Thanks.
