Watching a video over view of the SketchUp extension 2DXY SiteSurvey tools
by Barry Milliken, he said that areas are not calculated correctly when curves make up a boundary of the face? Is this true? How inaccurate are they?

It depends on the size of the circle and segment number. A true arc will create a slightly larger area than segments meeting the endpoints/midpoints of the arc.

Kristoff, you should read up on approximating the area under a curve.

BTW, it seems to me that if SketchUp recognizes the curve as an arc and can report its radius, the area should be calculated using that radius.

If SU however "knows" the curve's description (radius as used in survey) why couldn't the plugin use THAT information for a more accurate area?

That's what I assumed it did... I knew the difference in sides could effect the size, but that's nominal. I thought it was actually inaccurate. I figure square footage by those calcs and if the tolerance is less than a foot I'm fine with that.

Seems like a useful plugin, eh? Nice guy as well.
