I just realised Thomthoms Selection Toys has Select all active DC instances that works with DC's even if they have been scaled or modified.

You can use condition statements to effect the placement, if you want individual input, perhaps up to ten, then you can use the dialog. x = 10 + if(copy,10,0) + if(copy>1,80,0) + if(copy>2,300,0) results for copy: for 0 => 10,for 1 => 20, for 2 => 100, for 3 => 400, your first example or x = if(copy=0,value1,0)+if(copy=1,value2,0)+if(copy=2,value3,0)+....... There is an example on my warehouse page https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model.html?id=u39b49ce8-66fb-4a59-ab35-3e9c9ae3d1ea where either selected or user input effects position and number of copies of elements to build a door But after a point, based on complexity and file size, as Phillip says....use Sketchups native tools

Yes, some slow movements from me when doing the sphere "decoration". Jaaaa, Hot air blower plugin could do some organic... FDM printing is just easier with a one side flat model... Late answer, there are still places on this sphere without the web.

Peter, Somehow, I missed your reply. Thanks for the explanation. I have some pretty minimal settings that I use for generic tune-up purposes. For me, it has served as an enhanced find and fix errors utility that has saved more than one of my models. But your points are well made and well taken. Thanks again. Phillip

@pilou said: From the site last update seems for SU 2013 ! So try if that yet work with newer SU versions Free version allows you to make 10 seconds animation! Of course sufficient for test functions but not if you want more directly! (you can also make some past of different animations if you are tricky! Prices was 50 to 200 € following versions All docs Having problems with installation. I have sent them a note. Will see if I get any reply. Might be a problem because I am running SU 2015 on Win10. I have printed off and read some of the documentation. I agree that it looks like it could be kind of complicated but powerful if I can get it going. The 10 second limit for the trial version might make it difficult to properly evaluate. @bob james said: I would recommend you take a look at SimLab Soft http://www.simlab-soft.com/index.aspx I will give it a look............

@garry k said: You are limited to the interact tool. Personally - I don't think I would involve the scaling tool. I was able to affect 2 components with different motions with 1 click. If this is what you are looking for I can post an example. I get that. But that is the point. Can you select one of 256 increments with one click without going to a drop down box? The scale tool does not fire the onClick attribute, so unfettered dynamic motion such as produced by scale and move will not activate a formula. That is the reason for a feature request. See my post in 'What's the Future of Dynamic Components?' for my reasoning. See if you agree. I would be very interested to get your take on this.

@driven said: @phillip h said: ..."Whatever can this mean?... Anyone have any news or thoughts they can share? I believe that there was a 'bit of a cockup' updating the preview images for older 3dWareHouse models... a number of models where converted to kmz format in error and lost all their unique skp properties... this included simple things like 'smooth edges' , 'double sided faces' and DC 'attributes'... the updating was halted and 'fix' has been tested and a re-render/repair is expected soon... so, keep on playing... have a look into controlling DC's with Ruby via tool observers, there may be some milage in that approach... have fun john Whoo hoo! Thanks for the update John! And thanks for the suggestion! Hope springs...

A Dynamic Component might work for your application however you need to keep in mind that resizing is done via scaling. In the case of a component with end or surface details such as my door rail, scaling would also scale the geometry on the end of the rail. The solution is to divide the rail into three separate components. Once for each end and a third for the middle section. Then changing the length of the rail would involve moving one end component and scaling the center section. This works nicely as far as appearance goes but if you also need something like an accurate cut list from the model, dividing the rail into three components creates a problem because the three components get reported not the entire rail.

@pcmoor said: the other forum has noted the loss of examples http://forums.sketchup.com/t/basic-self-paced-tutorials-broken/16489/8 [attachment=0:hi3y6q0h]<!-- ia0 -->Capture.PNG<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:hi3y6q0h] plus other issues with tutorials..maybe this is the lead up to the new release The DCs are but spreadsheet cell formulas, convenient for simple object manipulation. Ruby on the other hand is a language use to create plugins. (DCs forms and functionality was built using Ruby) However DCs are the most likely vehicle for information modeling, so understanding how they work is not a waste of time deleted last comment going through your examples now Thanks for clearing that up. It helps me put things in focus. It's also good to know that I haven't lost my mind, thinking the DCs were empty. If your assumption is correct, then I presume we will see some major changes in functionality. In the following file, I have broken out things into various attributes to better monitor results. The ColorCube has its Material attribute removed as it need to be added fresh each time. I have been have some difficulty with the Scale tool too, so the same applies. It needs to be reinitialized in each slider; SliderR, SliderG and SliderB. LenX gets evaluated with NEAREST(CURRENT()) and the X axis is aligned to the base of the slider scale. This give a direct relationship between LenX and X. The 'Trick' attribute of ColorCube came from telling myself, this might just do the trick. Thanks for looking. It means a lot to me. Upon some reflection, I think I need to move most of ColorCube's attributes to the sliders and do all the processing from there.
