First 3d print... couple of questions
-
Which material? Strong and flexible will have no problem with that overhang...
-
yes, strong and flexible is what i was thinking. haven't discussed with the client though.
great! I will give it a shot.. appreciate the help guys.
-
did you print this?
the loop needs to be intersected with the model for it to be a solid....at the moment the loop looks separate to the model and is clipping the surface. Intersect and delete any internal geometry/faces.
-
Oli..it is intersected and I got rid of any conflicting geometry. But, the client said they wanted to just tie a ribbon around the center. They had 200 of them printed. When I get one in the mail, I'll snap a pic.
-
Nice! It was hard to tell from the pics, I thought it was floating.
Which material did you settle for? Different colours? I'm well into 3D printing at the moment.
Yes please share pics when you get one.
-
I've been following along with what you've been doing. I'm slowly getting into it. Have a printer coming my way soon.
I think they just went with fast and flexible because they were getting alot of them. I'm a bit out of the loop because it was a client of a client. My client said they're a little wesk though and they probably should've used something else.
-
Which printer are you going for? I'm looking at some myself...I don't expect the resolution to be amazing but need something good enough for prototypes. There are so many printers coming out it's hard to know what is going to remain current. Makerbot looks nice and simple but resolution isn't amazing.

I rolled the dice on this: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tiko3d/tiko-the-unibody-3d-printer/description
It was cheap enough..
-
Cheap enough i'd say! That's like ten times cheaper!! Looks great! Do you think they'll ship before xmas?
-
I don't know. I was late to the game anyway so I was in the february group. First batch was supposed to be shipping now.. hopefully they're only a month behind.
