Ambient occlusion

Afrter installed a ambient occlusion lite, SU2014 crashed (bug splat), tried several uninstall/installs, cleared registry etc with no succes. Install the same on SU2013, the same thing. Deleted folders, wiped registry, can be installed but reports bug splat on run.
Happens on XP laptop, now i got SU8 installed, have to convert all the 2014/2013 to SU8 on PC (W10 - which by the way renders files OK).
So it's the pain, even more so because I kill SU2013 just to see what happens and found out that the XP machine didn't have restore point enabled, because it looks like the pluggin did something to the system settings.
Any suggestions? -
I reported this problem to Nicola (author) six weeks ago after it took me over 2 hours to resolve. Her reply then was "oh we know about the problem and we will fix it " Is there no beta testing before the plugin is released. If the plugin is still available for download in it's broken state that's unforgivable, a disabled computer can mean loss of income.
I had the same problem when their last plugin OBJ importer was first purchased it.
I have tested the "fixed" release of the AO plugin if anyone would like to read a review, it's not very complimentary though
