Well, I'm back home and discovered that I have the Wakl and Look around tools in my SU Viewer. They are part of the camera toolbar (View menu > Toolbars). See attached file. [image: Ii7R_SUViewer.jpg]

I just tried it with a still locked terrain - it worked perfectly fine. but Gaieus is right. try it with an unlocked one. perhaps that works.

Thank you The problem is that I get where I need to go, but I know that what takes me three hours to do, should only be taking maybe an hour if my SU skills were not so inadequate. My new year's resolution - take, actually steal some time from whatever I am doing every day to devote at least an hour to doing it right! This is why I tried to find some actual get in the car and go to classes, as then there is no way to say - well... maybe later. Have a nice evening.

On the assumption that you are all volunteering your time on this website. No need to apologise! Thanks for your reply!

Hi Rob, I see your point exactly. Sometimes there are things that would make a model (or anything for that matter) really perfect - it's just not worth the effort (time, money) investing into. And your contribution is certainly most welcome!

Dylan: I wish I could take credit for it The model was made by Nerow. I just needed a few things to fill the spaces in the shelf (I probably should have credited it in the first post ). Thanks, Boo

hi, in Sketchup import --> click the 'Options' button; this allows you to set the units for import. If an ACAD drawing is drawn in 'inches', Sketchup will import to correct scale even if you've set your import units to 'Meter'. However, if your ACAD drawing is drawn in 'unitless', then Sketchup will take 1 unit in ACAD drawing as whatever unit you've selected. Hope this helps.

I am not too sure about Mac's but if you share the SU folder and all it's sub folders in XP the guest account can access it without any problems.

Hi daigoro, There are several applications which allow you to do this (in different ways). RPS 3D PDF which is not free but the most cross platform tool. It will - as it says create 3D PDF files which you can then orbit etc. Hypercosm - which has a free and a commercial version as well. Not available for Macintosh at the moment - and needs a (downloadable) plugin to see the models. eDrawings - but it only works on IE (and I'm not sure if it is embeddable in a website) See some discussions in the respective subforums about them here.

Hehe, that would have been a sight to see, Susan. You can't map an ordinary landscape/skyline to a dome...even if it's a full 360° panoramic image. You can get part of the way up...just like a cyclindrical cyclorama, but one that bends inwards at the top; but the circle above your head will just never work. You need a full hemispherical image like these. A disproportionate amount of image has to be employed to map that small area directly above you (like the full top half of the rectangular versions) while the bottom edge has to run the entire circumference of the horizon.

Nothing new, but more of a reitteration based on my findings which have mainly been w/ the brick textures. Image resolution does help but it seems to be on a decreasing scale. So rendering small images will make the affect horrible. If you do images about the size of your monitor it'll be quite a bit better. But after you get past about 2000 pixels in either width or height it doesn't seem to make as much difference. The biggest difference comes from changing the scale. Make the scale as large as you can without making it so big it's obvious the scale is way off. This is also a much better option for animations since you don't want to just try and solve the problem by making ginormous image files. I haven't really tested it much but it seems logical that you'd want to use .png or tiff files since they aren't compressed like a jpg. I usually combine all of these things. Scale the texture up, have SU render a bunch of png files at 29.97 fps at a nice big size (twice the size I'll end up with is pretty ideal), then use Adobe Premiere Elements 4.0 to put them into an animation. -Brodie

Open the old SU file with the camera position you want / need, save the model under a different file name (so as to not mess up the old one you're keeping for record), save the camera position as a scene, delete unwanted scenes. Use PageExIm available from Smustard to export the scene. Open updated SU model, use PageExIm to import the scene into your new model. That should do the trick, make sure you don't have conflicting scene names.
