    • RE: Line on surface removal plugin (Request)

Don't know if you ever got your answer or if this may be the one you're looking for but you can try this:

      deletecoplanaredges.rb

Be aware: Try not to use it on a large number of rounded or curved edges. It may delete some of the edges (don't know why) and depending on the amount of lost detail, you may not be able to under the history enough to get it all back. A thought may be to save your model prior to using the script. That way if you lose too much... you've not really lost anything.

    • Plugins don't work in other user profiles on my Mac.

I relocated the license file of SU7 pro from my admin (user) path to the HD/library/application support.....

Because of the sheer volume of stuff I have running in my administrative account, I created a "SU Modeling" account so that when I'm using SU, all the memory power, processor speed, etc, is devoted to the model I'm working on. For some reason, even in the HD path, I have a bunch of folders in my plug-ins folder that are locked out to all other users but the admin user account. I even tried to copy and paste the license file in the user (non admin) profile's user path but at not avail.

I have searched, and will keep looking, but so far I've not come across an answer to my issue. Does anyone have any ideas?? Any help will be appreciated.

      Thanks.

    • RE: [TUTORIAL] Making holes through pipe (cylinder)

The principle of a hollow tube is the exact same. I'm assuming that you would like to have a visible wall thickness?!?

When you draw you're pipe, you need to know the i.d. or o.d of it and wall thickness. so draw a circle of the diameter you know and use the offset tool in which ever direction and type in the thickness measurement, hit enter and simply delete the inner face (inside the pipe outline) then use the push/pull tool or create a path for the follow me tool with the line and arc tools. The rest is all the same.

    • RE: [TUTORIAL] Making holes through pipe (cylinder)

in order to use "section plane", I had to make it a group. but later on, I need to see the whole in it. Had I altered the main tube, it would have wholes in it at the beginning of the tut, thus the 2 similar pipes.

I hope this answers your question.

Wow! Thank David. I never thought this little tut would attract any attention. It really nice to help someone and get a pat on the back from so many others. I'm really glad this helped you.

      Have a great day.

Could you explain how do you use the Push-Pull tool to create that growing****cylinders in the tuto. I'm quite interested in your know-how, it could open new ways for animations...

Thanks very much for attention. πŸ‘

      MALAISE πŸ˜‰

If you dissect the model, check out the layers, components and turn on the section planes(there should be a button on the top toolbar for that purpose), you should be able to figure it out. By toggling section planes on and off between scenes it gives the illusion of the"growing" pipes.

      Hope this helps you

    • RE: Should I use Vista on my Mac?

Certainly windows has quite an advantage in that pretty much all the plugins, and rendering software, available for SU will work on them. If you feel you need all of these plugins, or rendering engines particularly, then its probably worth the switch. Im sure you can pick up a cheap copy of xp somewhere which will work fine for SU.

BTW, whats this 'x11' you mentioned? i havent heard of it before.

I first became aware of it when I downloaded Kerkythea. Being binary programing, it was indicated that in order to work on OS X, I needed to install this X11. It essentially allows you to run a program designed for Windows on a Mac. Not understanding programing, I can't tell you how it does it but it would be nice if I could figure out how to use it to run others, like SU for Windows. Since the initial install, I've come across the occasionnal plug-in that needs it, though I forget which.

In my Applications folder it simply lists as X11.app in the Utilities folder.

Sorry I can't be more helpfull. I'll ty to link it to this message but I don't know if there's a size limit or whether it'll work on it's own if there are additional components of the program in other locations that may be needed.

Maybe someone can give me more info on it in relation to the ability to run SU6 Windows with is. When I turn Kerkythea on, it also automatically comes on. If I quit either program, the other shuts down as well... if this means anything

    • Should I use Vista on my Mac?

Maybe this is not the right forum to ask this but .. here goes.

In looking at all the tools, plug-ins and add-ons for SU6, so many more are available for Windows only. Is It worth the money to get Vista (or XP??) and switch from the Mac version??? With this X11 that keeps cropping up here and there, can I run SU6 for Windows using this X11 or does one need an actual Windows OS??

    • RE: RpReports

      Hey Al,

Just trying to get a grasp on this ReReports PDF export. Is it for Windows Only? Does it require the additional programing to enter the additional field? That's kinda what it looks like. Or it is intuitive to the point when it will display all the components without the need to add of remove fields and sub-sections?? Have you used it often? Any possible hick-ups with it for a "simpleton" like me? This is a plug-in or independent program??

      Regards,
