I got a model where I need to update an image I previously made. However, the camera in the scene has changed. I do have however an older file with the original camera position.

I had a look for a plugin that let you save and load camera
positions, but with no luck. I only found various exporters.

      Anyone got a link?

unfortunately I am not aware of a way to import camera position.

however, what I would do is the following:

open the old model (with the correct camera position), mark one significant corner of the building (eg. by drawing two guide lines). then delete everything in the model (except the guide lines of course πŸ˜‰ ).

now you open the components window, click on the details button (small arrow on the right) and choose the topmost option "open or create a library...". here you select the folder, where you saved the new model.

now the new model will appear in the components window. all you have to do now is to place it with the (previously chosen) significant corner at the intersection of the two guide lines you created earlier.

as a last step right click on the model and "explode" it (that it is not a single component anymore).

I know, it is a tedious method, but its the only way I can think of. πŸ˜†

          Hi,

I would open your SketchUp file with the correct camera position and delete everything from the scene. Then open up your other file in a new instance of SketchUp and select all and copy. Return to your copy of SketchUp with the good camera setup and "Paste in place".

          Regards
          Mr S.

Open the old SU file with the camera position you want / need, save the model under a different file name (so as to not mess up the old one you're keeping for record), save the camera position as a scene, delete unwanted scenes. Use PageExIm available from Smustard to export the scene. Open updated SU model, use PageExIm to import the scene into your new model.

That should do the trick, make sure you don't have conflicting scene names.
