Yes thanks, a glitch is the word I was looking for. To fix it I deleted the styles folder from "C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 7\Styles" then reran SU7 setup and chose the repair option. This worked fine though I didnt have a lot of custom styles so didnt need to worry about loosing them. For anyone trying this do a backup of the files first. In the future if I want to copy styles I will open the folder they are located in within the styles window and drag them into a new or existing collection. The problem seems to occur when you drag and drop within windows. Must loose a link???? Cheers, David.

Yes, as Jacob says, the trick is to do a cut and then group, then cut within group. Takes several steps to do this. I think a ruby script could perhaps be done: cut section specify depth of section via vcb or picking, done!

I attach a couple texture images that strike me as being kind-a drum like. I don't know who originally made them. I found them on a sharing site years ago. Regards, Ross [image: Jt9j_Mohavel.jpg] [image: DSRy_Navahol.jpg]

Ah, building a ship, ain't you! I love this stuff, really! You'd probably need a 3D grid then. Go to Didier's Ruby Library Depot and get 3d_grid.rb. You can even create a nice, custom grid then some scenes with Standard viewsand save your (empty) model as a Template so you can start with it when launching SU.

Hello- lowpolygon3d is a good source. If you look around the site, you can download a sample of each of their types (2d and 3d). Here is another site I have used- http://www.got3d.com/. http://www.archvision.com/RPCPeople.cfm Is another company that seems to have very high quality models. I am pretty sure you can download samples from both of those sites as well. And as always... http://www.google.com/search?q=low+poly+people&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a Google is always a great place to start. Good luck and let us know what you find. Aaron

I think that worst than having to reorganize the toolbar, as well as the icons, is to have to remember where they were in the first place. So once I have all my menus and toolbars in place I do a print screen of sketchup and save the image somewhere I can refer back once sketchup has bugger up. I know this is not ideal, but it may save you a couple of minutes. Let me know if someone come up with a definite solution. Cheers

I usually don't use profiles but these are the cases when I do. With profiles on, you can see which line does not create an edge (is not closed) at some point and (like Remus says) with hidden geometry turned on, you can manually fix the problem by drawing the necessary lines. Drape sometimes has this glitch and you really have to do some hand stitching to fix it.

If I wanted to put it short (and kind of rude), I'd say "RTFM" But seriously, after playing around a bit and starting to understand how things work in SU, it is well worth to go through the whole manual step by step and while reading, doing what it says there. At the end(ish) of each section there there are tips on what and how you can enter into the VCB (where applicable). And I can tell you that even I visit the manual time after time and discover new things (well, things that I forgot at least or do otherwise).

I don't think there is consistency in this. It's the same with punching holes: Draw a face, pushpull it to some thickness, draw a grid (with Windowizer, for instance) and push-pull one grid face to make a hole. Now start double-clicking on the rest of the squares. Most often than not, some of them do not make a hole, but leave two z-fighting faces instead, or then at some stage the bottom face of the box disappears completely. Anssi

Hi folks. I dont see this behavior of "Follow me" as a bug. This is to be expected since, when "Follow me" goes from one segment to the next, it must rotate the profile as it goes. If the direction change imply a rotation around only one axis, the profile will be reoriented around only this axis. Good for now. If the direction change is done around two axis at the same time, like the ramp in a spiral staircase, a rotation around the third axis in unavoidable since all three axis must remains at 90° from each other. What would be nice to have in a future version of SU would be some kind of modifier key that would allow the user to tell the "Follow me" tool to consider only one axis for rotation when doing the pull along the path. Just ideas. Jean (Johnny) Lemire from Richelieu, Quebec, Canada.

Oh yes, bumps and such - or even clipmaps and layered materials so that it could look like a marble column with a winding, gilded stripe on it!

Just for a sidenote, in Kerkythea speifically, you can use the alpha channel as a clipmap. You put the png, tiff, whateve format with the alpha channel into the diffuse slot and at the clipmap slot there is a checkbox (aomething like) "use alpha mask as clipmas" you can check. But other applications may not have this option so to create two files - a diffuse and a clip - may still be useful (not to speak about file sizes that Alan mentions).
