boy oh boy.. how confusion sets in fast. My point was not malicious and I was not implying anything negative. I posted the comment strictly because I noticed that when any thread is posted and no one makes a comment or replies to it, it remains in the "unanswered posts' section. In the past few days, I've had some spare time I thought I could put to good use and check the "pile" and see if I could answer some questions if I could. I also came across a few posts that were like Dan's. Showing off their latest master piece. I think it's great that he's willing to share. I think it's great he has a site built around this purpose. A lot of folks have their site listed in the "signature" portion of the message/reply so if anyone, like me, wants to check it out, a simple click and you're there. I did also make a suggestion that for people that like presenting their newest piece, it would be cool if their could be a "counter" link showing the number of new and viewed models in the "topic" or maybe a sub-section of the forum. The only reason for this would be that for people who have legitimate (actual) question or issues, they can get help a little faster. Meaning that when someone sets out to answer a few question, it's easy to get distracted. No offense intended nor did I want to imply anything. From now on.. I guess I'll have to sign off and not comment on anything. Y'all have a greeat summer Mike RL

Thank you very much. The meaning of "Solo" in spanish is "alone" but you will never be alone. I suspect you will recruit a lot of friends here.

We're looking closely at this issue. Is ANYONE who's experiencing this NOT on an Intel GMA 950 graphics card? That would include current Mac Mini, older MacBook and one old model of (white) iMac. Thanks! Barry Google

Another option would be to select one side of the rectangle (line) then use the move tool to move the line the required distance. You can start to move then type the distance in the Value Conrol Box and press enter. Edit: Just realized James has explained this in his 2nd posted image above

What I wouldn't call a bug but a "featuer" I don't like is that when you explode something whose geometry on a certain particular layer, it will move that geometry to the layer active during exploding. This may cause things disappear when you turn the visibility of certain layers off (where now there is your geometry that has never been there).

daniel, thanks for that, funnily enuf I'd just finished drawing one of these, in aussieland its a 1000litre bulk liquid container, anyway, made it into a component but every time I tried to load it into a drawing it crashed su. Sent a bugslat report and decided to let the gremlins win that one and deleted it throughly from my system and started again. The first one took me 35 minutes to draw. The second one (which of course came out better) took all of 10. Damn Im getting good at this:). It's attached, no detail, quick and nasty, but ok for this job. Baz. Ps: had a site meeting yesterday, after a 45min safety induction.(I now know which way to run:) The engineering mob down there hadn't seen Su capabilities, tho they of course were au fait with cad and 3d and they'd heard of su, "oh yeah, that free program". (Thanks google! Would that be the free program thet I shelled out over 700 bucks for?) Btw, I got the job after one of the engineers d/loaded the free and realised it aint just software that gets the job done. But they were v. impressed with the presentation aspects. Ie: after the serious design work is done, and it is very serious and inflammable, they still have to explain it to the men in suits and overalls who generally could'nt read a cad if it was inserted fundamentally. Su is perfect for walking the various stakeholders around the actual. su rocks![image: GV46_bulk.jpg] bulk liquids.skp

Mike, If you look its actually already IN the Tutorial area of SCF... ... Also, how do you print out a Video ??? I think the ability to print out a Tutorial is quite useful so that you can have it on your desk next to you when working - for quick reference. (See Fredo's brilliant documentation [PDFs] for the scripts he's produced - excellent). ... Howard L'

Antics will probably do the job. As for animating within SU itself, I have posted some ideas in the tutorials section, utilising workarounds with layers and Face Me components. Such methods are probably nearing their sell-by date.

Juju just send me a message with a link to the drivers I refered to ealrier: @unknownuser said: The drivers I was referring to are available from OmegaDrivers, it seems as though they have drivers for both ATi and nVidia these days. I remember when I had my Radeon ATi 9800 Pro 128MB (it was a few years ago) these drivers helped to speed things up, I can't think that things have changed much in assessment. How much they will help with SU, I don't know. However the drivers were always well optimised and stable. Hope this helps! perhaps these can be of use for you...

@dave r said: Daniel, this is very nice. Thank you. @basic.woodworks said: hey Dan Very cool. Though overboard might be a slight understatement. Have you got it posted on the 3D warehouse?? basic.woodworks, why are you so hot to get people to post on the 3DW? Why not share it on 3DW?? Also, we have 7945 member, to date. All unanswered posts go into a list that can fill up fast. If everyone shared one creation in this fashion, would it not be hard for people who have legitimate questions to get an answer if we have to sift through potentially dozens of exhibition posts before hand?? Maybe if a topic could be created without the connection to "unanswered posts" or perhaps with a counter for the amount of new and previously view .skp's rather the an actual unanswered post thread?!?! Just a thought. As I am at home most of the time, I like answering posts and helping others, if I can. I may not know much but I can share what little kowledge I do possess and also by getting involved in some topic I'm not too familiar with , if at all, I learn a few things for myself. I don't mean to offend anyone. I do think that Dan did do a great job on that wardrobe. I even downloaded it myself to check it out ...no jerseys though:( I also think that he should share it on the 3DW. It is a great piece and if he willing to share it here, why not there. Regards Mike RL

We used a rain chain on a building close to the harbour (in East Scotland), the wind blew the rain everywhere off the chains! It looks good though (especially when you're up-wind from the chains...)

Ryan, Another thing you want to do is to make the parts of the tables into components as soon as you can as you go along. Most of the time when I'm designing furniture I create a component from the very first geometric construction I make for a part. For example, to make a leg for a table I might start with a rectangle on the "floor". I will make that rectangle a component, double click it to edit it, then push/pull the rectangle to the height of the finished table leg. If all four legs will be the same except rotated for position, I'll copy the leg to the next location and rotate it 90 degrees to orient it properly. Then I'll copy that second leg and move it to the next location, again rotating it 90 degrees for proper orientation, and the same for the fourth leg. Now when I add a mortice to one of the legs, each of them will get a mortice on the proper face. For an apron, I will begin by drawing a rectangle at the proper location on one of the legs and (not while editing the leg) make that rectangle a component, double click to edit, and push/pull it to the next leg. The point is to make each piece into its own separate component early on. You table top, not being a component and therefore being "glued" to two of the aprons and other stuff is real hard to work on. Each piece of a drawer should be a component, and then the drawer components can be made into a component of components so you can move the drawer around as a whole entity, but you can also go in and make changes to parts of the drawer easier if need be.

Hi Mobius, The funniest thing is I upgraded my ati drivers and I started to have this bloody problem of Hardware acceleration. If I downgrade to the earlier driver the problem goes away. But, I can't even do that because I'm running Blender on my machine and it won't work with the older driver. Anyway, try to use an older version of driver. I think it should work. 'Luck

this could be part of a huge animation plugin for SketchUp - with dynamic blending of colour/texture during playback... ps: I can't view your pictures (get only to the imageshack.us site when clicking them)
