@avg said: Thanks for getting back back to me. I think i got muddled up with my terminology but it should have been as you mentioned below 'Vray for Sketchup 6' not 'Vray Sketchup 6'. No - what I mean is that the version number comes in a numerical format, like 1.05.30 or 1.44.66. 'Vray for Sketchup 6' or 'Vray Sketchup 6' simply refer for what version of Sketchup the installer was made for - but is no indication of the version number of V-Ray.

@thomthom said: Bean of light going through smoke? Unfortunately there is no atmospheric system in VfSU - so you have to fake it.But if the beam of light is solid you could use an emissive material. You have an example reference photo of the effect you want to achieve? There's a video on youtube of Pink Floyd's concert... these guys are known for breathtaking lighting in their concerts.. here's the link...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ww7UecA3pac

Please do not use so much upper case letters. They are hard to read. Use Bold or Italic if you want contrast in your text.

Hi thomthom Sorry for being late in responding to your kind reply. I have solved the problem via reinstalling V-ray. It’s working perfectly now. Many thanks for your concern. Regards, Alshamsi

Ok, so here is my correction for the first post: I've tried many different render settings, except this one... Edge length 1px solved the problem. Thank you thomthom!!

Yes - emmissive materials cause noise. Should not be used for primary lighting in a scene.

@arjunmax09 said: @earthmover said: so my model size is frequently 60-100MB. I keep my models running quickly by constantly purging, doing layer management and keeping shadows turned off. 60-100 mb???!!!! eeee!!! my highest till date is 28 mb.. lot of contours and trees.. the sketchup started to cry inspite of hidden geometry, layer management and groups and components what's your pc config?? Got a number of 100-200+ models at work. but they are usually due to large textures or scene watermarks. Earlier I used to embed high res textures in my models, now I use the linking trick I described earlier. Keeps the model more responsive, saves disk space, increases the save/load speed of the model. But I do find that my co-workers often use a 10megapixel photo as a texture, but only utilising small portion of the actual photo. I cringe every time I see that. It's worth noting that a model of 10-20MB can be much slower than a 100MB model. The reason is that the file size is not a direct reflection of the amount of geometry - which is the biggest slow down factor. If you have a model with lots of components that can have smaller file size but more geometry than a model using less components. The most accurate indication of the size of a model - in terms of complexity and how performance hungry - is the model statistic. Number of edges, faces, groups and components.

Remember to reload the bitmaps in VfSU's editor when you load vismaps. vismaps stores the absolute path for the bitmap on the computer that created them, so when you load it on another computer all the bitmaps are most likely pointing to the wrong path.

Default Lights are not related to the V-Ray Sun. In order to get the V-Ray Sun you must enable GI under Environment and ensure that it's map is Sun/Sky.

There are a number of causes for this. Most common appear to be materials. I'd advice you to check out the ASGVis forum where you will find a sticky that describes how to get hold of the error log. Then you can submit that error log and model to ASGVis support. Just in case you have come across a new issue.

When the error message popped up telling you that you had already activated a demo license, it should also have told you to send an email with the request code. Please follow those instructions, it's the only way you're ever going to get it to work properly.

You're using parallel perspective. VfSU doesn't work well with that. At least not with physical camera. I remember people talking about various ways to do this, but I don't know what they did. I never had to use parallel projections. The ASGVis forum should have a few posts on this.
