download a material studio at asgvis.com to view the material... or in sk go to the material editor or texture editor and preview the material... how to link? well create a new material by importing a new material and find the place u have in the computer! try that

Thanks Lewis, Though I can't believe they've not fixed the "disappearing groups", "incorrect environment from SU shadow settings" and "VRay materials getting 'stuck' to SU geometry even though the material's been changed in SU" bugs. They're pretty damn serious- the disappearing groups and shadows ones are bad enough to put demo users off. Sure they all have workarounds, but they should have been picked up early in the beta stage IMO. Oh well, it's still one of the best and definitely the fastest renderer out there and a very stable prog (Vue d'Esprit users will know how novel the latter concept is!).

Guys, I have the same problem. I can't understand how I can use .vismat files. I explain my steps and my problem: i built a wall i downloaded a material from the site called "brick-wall_red" ( a .zip file where there are 2 .png files and 1 .vismat file.) i create a new material in sketchup meterial editor using one of these .png (one of these shows the red brick and the other grey brick and i chose the first one). so from the zipped folder i choose one.png file. i set everything in terms of scale and proportion and it is fine.the name of the new material is "brick red" right click and i linked the material in vray. now in vray editor i have "linked_brick red" now on in bump i link the other .png 8.i have the material "brick-wall_red" i don't think it is the best way. it is too weird. I have read also that when you link the material in vray material editor (my step 6) then right click on the linked material, "import" and there you can put the .vismat file. I have tried but I see everything grey. any idea to help me?? thank you very much. stef.

I would use a night HDRI for the environment and GI. The rect lights in your building may need to be turned up in order to get the glow you want. My suggestion is to play with a test model using just a box with a 'window' cut out and try the methods described above to see what gets the effect you are looking for. Nice FREE HDRIshttp://www.hdrlabs.com/sibl/archive.html

if the vray physical camera is on and less value for your rectangular light. you wont really see them. physical camera works together hand in hand with the the vray sun. if you are using night scene better to turn off the physical camera. all lights (omni or point lights, emmisive and rectangular lights will appear) if you insist in using the camera try lowering your fstop value, decresing the shuterss speed or even makign your ISO higher, but lo be careful because if your using ISO more than 800, the image will become noisier.
