How to use certain .vismat files (trees and people)
-
Hello,
I downloaded a pack of .vismat files that I am using with VRfSU. The pack includes a number of materials picturing people and trees, but I do not know how to use them.
I tried to add them to a face as standard, but it does not appear correctly in SU nor does it render correctly (I just see the standard surface).I cannot upload vismat files, but uploaded the .jpg and .png files for an example tree .vismat file.
Thanks in advance,
Vray version: 01.05.30

I'm guessing they came from here - http://www.3dxplore.com/remository/vray-materials-for-beer-buyers-specials/
You need to first create a vertical plane and apply the diffuse .jpg image to it, then replace it with the .vismat material you downloaded. You can make the plane into a "faceme" component by double clicking on it and choosing Make Component. Then select always face camera and make sure the axis point is in the center.

Remember to reload the bitmaps in VfSU's editor when you load vismaps. vismaps stores the absolute path for the bitmap on the computer that created them, so when you load it on another computer all the bitmaps are most likely pointing to the wrong path.
