Yet again V-ray loaded model and MSWindows gives this message, for the 1st time ever. Even if with 16GB of RAM and 3D model using only 3GBs. While building raycaster accelerator the computer freezes and mouse cursor moves very hard.

No displacements, totally cleaned model, purged and with synced materials and maps.

    Any sollution to this? 😒

Later edit: Solved it. It's just the model management wrong. Had to hide some components that were invisible on this scene, the second floor and some plants on there right that are visible in another scene. Thanks in advance!

There is no magic button. You have to light a scene the way you would in real life. Fixtures with IES lights, windows letting in sunlight, maybe you even setup a few rectangular lights behind your camera as additional lighting, the same way a photographer would.

I like the clear and simple way how you have expressed this.
Your three sentences should be the introduction for each lighting chapter of any Render Tool.

However, I would like such a "magic button"

Do not unplug the dongle while you're rendering. V-Ray will loose the License and most likely drop the render mid way through.

Well, I hope your renders got out on time, but two quick suggestion I can make is to first, try deleting any lights in the scene. Sometimes lights become corrupt and cause a scene to not render. If that doesnt work, a last resort would be to go to Extensions> V-Ray> Debugging> Regenerate all materials. You'll have to re-build all your materials from the base diffuse layer up, but the model should render again.

Let me know how it goes with the model.

Doh! I realized I can simply freeze vray via Preferences-> Extensions.
    Thank you for response.

    Hi All,

I've had great success using the method caecarvalho suggested - however I have just run into the issue where the transparency setting in the Vray material editor only adjusts the brightness/contrast of the material i.e. 0.25 gives a washed out look, but no translucency. The Alpha layer still makes the correct areas 100% transparent.

This seems to have happened for almost no reason i.e. models which have previously rendered perfectly now don't, and as far as I can tell there have been no significant changes to the models or to either the SketchUp or Vray programs.

    Any ideas?

    Hello Timothy,

if I understand right,I see you're trying to adjust the transparency in a wrong way. The correct way would be to use the color parameter in the tranparency option and not the number. What I mean by that is, if you want a 75% transparent text, you need to use a 75% gray color. You can leave the value 1. You will use colors from white to black, being black no transparency and white full transparency.

Try this glass out. You'll need to apply it to a thickened geometry for the refraction to work (model the glass pane), but it should give you a good starting point.

Thanks for that, really appreciate it!

I will get some rendering done this weekend using that glass.

Are you using the demo? The demo has resolution limitations.

Also by the looks of your Frame Buffer it's zoomed in 800% which is why its so blurry. If you click on your Frame Buffer window and use the scroll wheel to zoom back out to 100% is it still blurry?

probably need to go back to default settings and update camera, environment, etc. settings. There may be a bug that once you select other than RT CPU, the vray settings get messed up.

the problem can be by some things: improper geometry in one or more of your components, improper materials or the resolution and your configuration.
improper geometry - Sometimes vray can't triangulate the surface. Check your geometry with solid ispector, solid solver or manually.
Materials - Look your vray progress window. In the progress you will see which materials load fast, which slow, other don't load. For those that load slow, you can reduct the resolution and dpi of textures (both of diffuse, bump and displacement). For materials that vray freeze trying loading them, you must change them. It's difficult to find which material freeze exacte, because vray show you only treated materials, so you leave loaded materials and try to repair the others.
The resolution can be a problem too. With my Radeon HD6850 and phoenom II x4, I have a problem last two months. There had a windows update probably and I have no updated catalyst, because AMD do not support catalyst any more. So the maximum of resolution of exterior render of complicated models its 1024x768 for me.

    Thanks for all your advises.
I decided to add photo outside the window, but it made my render look really dark, so I've changed the setting of the camera to:
    F-numer 8
    Film speed 320
    Shutter speed 30

There are some new stuff on the model, but in general it is the same model as in the first post.

    @rspierenburg:
Firstly I don't take your advises personally, they were really helpful πŸ˜„

I've change all the whites and used different shades for wall panels, furniture and paint. You were right, it looks so much better Downloaded and used in the model, although I don't see much difference. Maybe my settings are incorrect? I've added some bumps etc. Changed to 65

    @tparks
It is on. Amount 0.6 Subdivs 12 Radius 30 - although I'm not sure if is it optimal.

Render looks so much better now, but the shutters are overexposed. Environment is 1,0 for GI. Or maybe the fault is somewhere else?

    hello,

i would like to know if there is a way to save the camera focus point for each scene so when render multiple scenes using depth of field, each frame has the correct focus point?

i tried to update each scene with different focus points, in RT render the focus points are saved, but when i use the final render, the focus points don't move...

    what can i do?

    thanks
    filipe bonito

Alas, no. Camera settings do not change between scenes. I think that is a highly requested feature for the next version.

currently you need to change it manually between renders.
