Material Mapping request

Im using vray SU so I have many questions about Vray material mapping cause i not understanding it very good:
1st
how can make a notches in material like in the notch between 2 aluminium tiles in walls..2nd
any help to or tutorial would be appreciated to make me understand the whole types of mapping ( like bitmap, tiles, etc..) so I can make desire materials3rd
