@vagadesign said: Would that cause the effect in my renderings though? Yes, it can cause effects like what you see in your rendering. There's a checkbox to use UV, you want to have that box unchecked.

You don't have to save to a separate vray material (vrmat), you can just save the SU material (skm file) to a library. Look in the SU help documentation about saving a material to a library.

Since I don't get an answer from Chaosgroup, I'll have to try the other way to fix it. Thanks Here are a copy: http://www.mediafire.com/download/hap0k3w50277wi4/vray_SettingsRenderChannels.zip

@nd1969 said: I have got the same problem with the same build as mentioned by Brodie. It doesn't want to start te next render. Anyone have a solution for this problem? I could use some sleep, batch render would help! The build described is an old build. Id recommend upgrading to the latest version of V-Ray for Sketchup, Service Pack 3, which is on the website under downloads: http://www.chaosgroup.com/en/2/downloads.html. After you log in you'll have access to the latest build.

@eugatr said: Hello Guys!! I've been messing around with the vray animation thingy, and while I do get all the images rendered according to the scenes, when stitched together the camera... um... shakes... the scene animation on sketchup (pre render) seems pretty smooth but somehow after rendering it looks like if the video was recorded by someone with parkinsons disease anybody knows how to solve this? thanks a bunch! How are you generating your animation path in Sketchup? Some animation plugins will generate hundreds of SU scenes - the problem with rendering that, is if the frame rate is not 1 to 1, then the rendering program will extrapolate the transition between the frames based on the SU movement, so you'll get a very jerky video. Try generating your animation scenes at the full frame rate, and then when you render with vray, set your fps rate to custom rate of "1" Hope that helps. Andy

@peerman said: Does this trick also work on OS X? Using the DR spawner on the local machine? You can try using a 64bit spawner that is running on windows, but there is no 64bit spawner for OSX at the moment. @peerman said: @dkendig, busy updating to 3.0 ? heading in that direction, yes. Had to wait until this service release was out the door before we moved on to some of the bigger changes

That's correct, you don't see the channels that are selected in your frame buffer. You have to select the "save all channels" button (the one right next to the save image button) and then it will save all the files out. To have a channel rendered, you have to click on it in the VFB Channels options so that it is highlighted before you start the rendering. (You only show RGB and Alpha highlighted in your screengrab.)

Are you using 2.0? I see a huge boost in rendering times even with just 2-3 computer slaves. There really isnt a whole lot to setup. Have the slaves on and running the spawner. Make sure all of your licensing is setup correctly, click render. Assets are transferred quickly and I see a boost in both my LC pass and IR passes. If it's working, you will see more render buckets at final pass time. If your machine is running low on RAM, just open the 64 bit spawner on your machine and check "Dont Use Local Machine" and just make sure localhost is checked on in your DR setup. With this method, you will not see you LC pass, but it is essentially 64 bit rendering on your local machine because you are no loner confined by SU's 32 bit environment. Now this is all assuming you are on 2.0, if not, then DR is pretty busted and I wouldn't recommend it. For more info on DR, see the manual http://help.chaosgroup.com/vray/help/sketchup/150PB/distributed_rendering.htm

You can create a custom channel in the VFB. For example, if you want a channel of a 2-sided curtain material for post processing. You can use this feature with lights also, so you can get the result of a single or multiple lights for post work.

I've heard rumor that we might get environment fog in 3.0 but its a no no in 2.0. You can try faking it with a ZDepth pass maybe?

Sorry to sound crass, but if you need help loading a preset, then you really need to look at the manual and some tutorials. V-Ray is not a magic rendering engine. You will never have clean noise-less renders if you don't learn the parameters of the engine and understand them clearly. If you are using 2.0, then this is how you load a preset. http://help.chaosgroup.com/vray/help/sketchup/150PB/tutorials_preset.htm Bookmark this page and reference it... a lot. http://help.chaosgroup.com/vray/help/sketchup/150PB/

If you are using an HDRI as a dome light, you only need to disable the GI and BG in your Environment. You should exposure in PC. I dont know why you would ever disable this.

brighter 3D does look good, although im not really an expert. Better think hard to decide if it will be better than Twilight or Light up and see if I can catch the sale.

In case there is still someone wondering about this, I have experienced LC freezing while trying to render a scene using caustics. I would recommend to turn on caustics just if you are completely certain about its settings. An error in the caustics settings can blow up your LC. I have also experienced freezing of the LC when the network supporting a DR is not properly set up. Specifically, slaves not having access to resources in the model. I solved it by getting a network with a server that contains all textures or proxies. So, appart from what said before me, also check caustics and DR settings.
