I am not a FlexTool expert. However, there might be a clue in your error message... C;/Users/Administrator/AppData/Roaming/SketchUp/SketchUp 2018/SketchUp/Plugins/f3d_flextools.rb;22;in `register_extension' Is your normal Windows user-name 'Administrator' ? Usually you'd choose something like 'Wenzhi' ? Assuming it is your normal Windows user-name... When you initially installed SketchUp did you do it in the proper way ? Even if you [as a normal Windows user] have admin-powers you must install complex apps this way... [Note that if SketchUp is already installed you should close it, then choose the Repair option offered...] Find the SketchUp installer exe file - probably in your downloads folder ? Select that exe file's icon. Right-click > context-menu > "Run as administrator" When prompted choose "Repair" and agree to all prompts thereafter... [If it's a fresh install choose "Install" !] Installing it in any other way - even if you have full admin-powers is not the same thing. Double-clicking on the exe file's icon might 'Run' it, but NOT as 'the administrator'. It's not recommended to run SketchUp while logged in as the full 'system-administrator' - but if you have another user-name called [confusingly] 'Administrator', probably with admin-powers that IS OK, BUT you will still need to use "Run as administrator"... as explained... If you have really messed up permissions on the C:/Users/Administrator/AppData/Roaming/SketchUp path then you might also need to fix then using Right-click > context-menu > Properties > Security > Edit and ensure that every entry has 'Full Control' set and that this permissions trickles down to apply to all subfolders and files in the tree...

@pixero said: Have you tried changing the scale of imported objects. from mm to m for example. From experience I know that scaling imported geometry can lead to strange things later on so its best to get the import right from the beginning. IF you import something at the wrong scale it can be good to use a script that scales the definition. (Can't remember the name of it but you'll probably find it by searching for scale definition.) That resets the scale of the scaled-down object to 1. Thanks! I will look for and try those plugin you mentioned. Cheers!

Hello TIG, thanks for your response. I recently upgraded my sketchup from 2016 to 2018 but I never use it when I'm online (only for activation). I use a tablet to download from and surf on the internet. I do have the sketchup viewer for Android installed on my tablet, maybe that is what's causing my problem. Once I change the extension from .skp to .rbz on my desktop the computer uses the correct diamond-symbols to identify .rbz's. by the way: thanks for your awesome contributions to the sketchupcommunity: split to plane is my personal favorite. kind regards, Folchert Dreise

Very good. I would suggest reporting it to the Vray folks. Maybe they should fix it.

Glad you got it sorted. The handful of triangles aren't that big a deal, just thought I'd mention them. It's actually a pretty nice model.

Yeah, I figured as much! The dense details are really slowing things down. Guess I’ll just have to power through it—no shortcuts this time! Haha. Thanks for the advice… and I’ll definitely keep that paracetamol handy!

Actually, this is a side effect of some evolution concerning the mouse scrolling for Mac. Animator v2.3b now support Parallel Projection. Please advise if you still have the issue. Fredo

Thank you very much for your answer. Yes that's what I thought I should do. However, I thought that maybe a plugin could help me to avoid manual drawing as I am trying to get more than version of this shape... Also I think the main issue here is to connect the 2 cones with one shape based on a curve that joins them... My non-mathematical intuition also, tells me that it should be paraboloid hyperbolic or something like that. Thank you again for your help. Anyone else could help me on that ? Thanks

Since animator is using ffmpeg to render each shot... i wonder if it would be possible to just open up the rendering command so we can use our own custom .cmd or even just a our own ffmpeg strings? With something like this we would be able to pretty much render using any external rending utility i think (not 100% sure). But even if i had to create a custom autohotkey script to save a snapshot in lumion as the animation progresses it would essentially be the same.

Bob, As you have a Mac, could you tell me if the MouseWheel over the timeline does a scrolling of the time? Also, if you enough track, would Option + MouseWheel scroll the tracks? Finally, would Command + MouseWheel (or Ctrl + MouseWheel) scale the timeline? This is relation with a Mac user who has a problem with MouseWheel. Many thanks Fredo

Tweak noise threshold (.03-.1 for tests, .005-.01 for finals) and Max subdivs. Switch to v3.6+! Disable 'Retrace' while testing. Hardware minimum: Latest I7 32gb ram, healthy SSD, gtx1080ti or better.

Hi I don't think this principle is the general fitting answer and it always depends on the model intention, the camera and lighting options etc. etc. In principle it is often most intelligent and sufficient to work with a simplified model version of an environment. - by means of suitable real photo texturing material, this can often "fake" the impression of a real situation better than even the most elaborate modelling work - at least as long as it's just the scene background Exactly like a native SkUp model is 3P perspective, your real photo will always be a suitable 3P perspective! When photographing you can already consider which edges might be useful for you later in SkUp - Useful for photomatching are pictures only then when you can adjust the red and green axes later on. And only for graphic reasons for example and only if needed: 2P perspective instead is always an "artificial" alienation of the image output above only - this output option is still available in SkUp as well as in any renderer or also later via post pro in any image editor ...
