Make it a component and save it to a component collection, then select and place it from the component panel whenever you need it.

Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Problem solved, fixed by simply logging out and back in again...twice. Another issue I am having relates to the referencing of an Excel file into layout. Previously it worked fine...open up the file, amend it, save it then update in layout and and all good. Now that I have updated to Office365 and Onedrive for my files, the only way to update the Excel file in LO is to close the file. The same file works OK when on Dropbox so is this a onedrive setting / permissions issue? If anyone else has had this issue then I be interested to hear how you fixed it. Thanks

The links don't appear to expire naturally, something must have gone wrong with that one. Here is one I posted about a year ago and it still works. https://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=372&t=75777&p=687176&hilit=share#p687176

If you insist on using an older version of SketchUp you need to learn some basic alternatives. The Extension Manager updates etc and the Extension and 3d-Warehouse are not supported in older versions. This means you can't install/update from the built-in links. However, you can open the Extension Warehouse page in your web-browser and from there search for what you want and download an RBZ to your computer, and store it somewhere logical. You can then use the Extension Manager's dialog to Install it [button near the bottom]... This is not 'rocket-science' A simple Google search shows that the Extension Warehouse is available here... https://extensions.sketchup.com/

Thanks heaps Rich I do not know why I have an aversion to plugins, to my detriment I expect. Though I will download clothworks but the wait time to receive the plugin did not work with my workflow. Did you do the cable with the follow me tool? I did not see your post in time, but thank you very much for it. I ended up figuring out my own way which turned out OK. I have attached an image of my methodology which basically was to do a 2d follow me and the slice it and rotate the segment and then join them. Sounds fiddly but in fact was quite easy. @alohaa said: "Generally don't use measure - use pencil instead" Why not use the measure tool? That's what it's there for! And as written, this applies to both measure tools. If I measure a length and I want the result to be retained, I can only use the tool in question. Because less is more. Line tool delivers the same result without need in extra effort

I'm in the same situation, I reinstalled Windows and didn't release the licenses before. Maybe I had an old version of skechucation since now I can only see assigned licenses, but I can't release them. Is there any way I can regain access to those licenses? Thanks,

@rich o brien said: I have them as shortcut keys. If I want to TRIM I just copy the cutter to memory buffer before the boolean. CTRL+V will bring it back. That's the key point.. I'm a "toolbar man" can't remember that many button, I have really bad memory. But I have custom toolbars set up, so I can keep a compact group of just 3 buttons: add, group-add and split (from BoolTools2). I always feel that split is the most versatile "subtractive" boolean. Your point about trim is valid, but what if you need intersect? Split may serve as subtract, intersect and trim and takes a single button on my toolbars. But.. probably the real reason why I prefer Split is that, for the kind of models I mainly do for work, I barely use booleans. They tend to create unsuitable topology.. I use booleans mostly when I do hobby projects to build something out of wood. I don't want to waste wood, so with Split I can more easily keep track of the leftovers and scraps to do this kind of stuff. [image: y0P7_Scraps.JPG]

TIG's 2D tools would be my recommendation to try out. You can install it using Sketchucation Tools https://sketchucation.com/plugin/696-sketchucationtools For the full parametric 2D to 3D workflow there's PlusSpec...if you've deep pockets https://youtu.be/1EBAbMLufaQ PlusSpec would pay for itself pretty quickly though

Hi Joe, I run SU on an ageing but fairly hi-spec gaming machine. I've got the anti-aliasing set to 0. I tried it on 4 and can see absolutely no difference, so I changed it back again...the higher it is, the more work your graphics card will have to do. I'd choose fast feedback over higher multi-sampling, as your system will run faster, especially on larger models. I think SU checks whether you can run higher sampling and fast feedback together on start-up. If your card is not up to the job, it will grey it out.

I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to say. Your model is all loose geometry, the only component is the scale figure that shows as a nested instance. Once Solid inspector has fixed the issues it can there are still holes and overlaps that you need to address manually. To get a volume the object needs to be a solid. [image: biZQ_GIF25-01-20248-39-54PM.gif] Once fixed and grouped it does show a volume. [image: mRSSVkh.png]

@kosmakosmakosma said: Edit: This makes no sense but now it works without VPN The only thing I can imagine is: the line between your internet service provider and our server hosting company in Germany was either down or very slow. This kind of thing can happen if a major router or cable line is down. Anyhow I am happy that the problem has been solved.

This is insane, ... maybe being an expert dedicated to modeling to final products or being a company doing all the modeling-to-final arch-viz services is different. i.e. https://www.mir.no/

@joe wood said: Yeah the tech is coming back to reinstall it early next week, really wonering how much better SUp will be! Probably not noticeably better on small models but if you increase visual enhancements you would notice it. So if you decided to use a style that had quite nice bitmap based strokes and added shadows. Or bumped up your OpenGL settings to ludicrous mode. Your integrated GPU would definitely under perform compared to a dedicated GPU. [image: hYijPH1.png] For mundane appearance settings, like Fast Styles, and generally efficient light models SketchUp is optimised for integrated GPU.

Thanks for the reply. Last update was in 2016. Does it still work? What render engines/software/plugins does it wor with? Does anyone have any examples that can be viewed (other than the one in the video)?

Twilight Render itself is not a dedicated render engine for SketchUp ?
