Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

I always like to be sure people remember "Group and delete" in clean-up of intersections. You should be able to knock out the deletion in one pass. Another thought is --I've been working on creating standard wall sections with windows already in them, that are designed to be joined or fitted to adjacent wall areas. If you are doing metal buildings this might be another approach, you could include the window opening framing as well in such a component. Actually most useful if you have a complex wall surface. Another thought- make a plane of the wall- with openings after mounting windows in a flat surface. Use 1001 bit tools for the paneling. I do this for battens.

Dear Bob, I don't believe there are any security issues but you need to have administrative rights to install programs. I've run into this when trying to install tools for working on the medical equipment I take care of. For that reason and despite our IT dept.'s desire to get rid of all Win XP machines, I've kept an XP laptop just so I can run those tools.

It seems texture support was only taken so far in SU to accommodate the basic flat surface modeling. Organic modeling wasn't a priority. Therefore it appears to the user that tools are lacking.

Thanks Deereei, I hadn't thought of that, and Pbacot, yes - I was looking at Artrage last night http://www.artrage.com/, it's moved along a lot since I last saw it, and with its layers and blending, it should do fine (and is probably as automatic as I'm going to get).

@matheusbragagnolo said: Yep, it's a Retina display! I thought it could be due to it, but was not sure. Thank you Yeah, the adaptation of SketchUp to the Retina was a mixed bag. Some things are wonderfully clear, but others are so tiny they are hard to see. I often find it hard to make out a selected Edge or to be certain that a cursor's hotspot is on an Edge. Fredo has been tearing out hair trying to make view.draw_text use a non-microscopic font. The programmers did not expose any interface to let users configure these things... Steve

I have SSD and 2TB HHD like you and I cannot see any significant difference although speed test would probably show some. Unlike x86 where the RAM is split between the kernel and su so each would get 2 GB, for 64 bit SU can use all of 4 GB. Some M boards have some BIOS option you can set that may help; look for some thing like"use max memory" and turn off( prevents the kerenel for hogging memory), look for " use shared memory and turn on". You best bet is to reduce the rendering load when you are modeling like use layers, monochrome, scenes and use textures for show and tell. Previously I have found turning transparency off helped a lots but have not checked for a long time.

Hi Frank. First, thank you so much for working with me and having a great test case from which I was able to "fix" closeopens to work more efficiently. As I rewrote closeopens, the first step, as you know, was to modify progressbar to allow the user to choose to cancel the process. After I did that, I went to rewrite the algorithm used by closeopens to make it MUCH more efficient. IIRC, the processing time for your model went from INFINITY (as in, it never did finish) to 52 seconds. I was excited about modifying progressbar to make it V2, and have it apply globally to all the scripts that used it, but I was not able to crack that nut without also having a requirement to also modify each and every script that called it to allow the canceling of the process. This is where Progressbar 2.0 died. However, closeopens does have Progressbar 2.0 functionality built-in, and, I have stalled bring closeopens to market, for some time now. And, while some attempts have been made by me to get it ready for packaging, I have broken the new copy. This is where I stand. I need to fix it, again, and then publish it. I will do this - but cannot promise when right now. My day job is demanding, and so are extra-curricular activities. Todd

This may also explain why opening an older model after some time shows some edges which you swore were previously softened?

@mgfranz said: I currently run SU Pro 8, I wanted to trial run SU 2013, my OS is Win 7 64. By default my .skp files are all associated with SU 2013, but I want to change the default program to SU 8 however no matter what I try to do they always open with 2013. I have done the Open>Default Program route, I have gone through the registry and changed the default path to C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Google SketchUp 8, but when I double click on a .skp file it still opens with 2013. When I right click and try to change the Open With>Browse> and select Google 8/SketchUp.exe the only option I get it 2013. So the only way I can open a .skp in SU 8 right now is to open the SU 8 program from the Desktop or Start and manually locate the file I want to open, is there a way to change the path in Win 7 or do I have to just uninstall 2013? I have faced the same problem and have also looked for a solution here before. As there was no simple fix. I uninstalled the 2013 version. Only to find out today while reinstalling SU 2013 that during installation of SU 2013 if you clear the check boxes for creating new file associations in Windows for skp files, then windows lets sketchup 8 remain as the default application for skp files. Try that, it is so far working for me. Hope it works for you as well

In fact it is an OpenGL problem, it seems. Meaning graphics card issue. I just had it in SU 2013, Windows 7 (in Mac Parallels). I fixed it by : SU menu, Window- Preferences- OpenGL, uncheck Use hardware acceleration.

Well, those were just suggestions. I sometimes get quirky behavior with selection box left or right. Seems coincidental but I hear my processor fan kicking up at about that time. It could be Sketchup autosave, my security software updating behind the curtains, or something like that. Yeah, I know this is kind of random off topic.

I've had the same problem many times. I've found that it is more reliable to use "MOVE/control", but I'd love to see a real answer to your question. Chris
