BlenderGIS can get you pretty good images.. you do need an API key to get set up but it's all free and you can even generate 3d geometry based on the elevations in the satellite images.. it tiles in blender so you the more you zoom the better the image quality to a point.

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

@hornoxx said: @box said: ...you have hit control while orbiting which has tilted your workspace... an other D'oh! moment for me didn't know this tilting is even possible so This feature is often overlooked. SketchUp by default implements a notion of "gravity" that keeps the horizon level across the width of your view - even if sky and ground visibility are turned off so there is no horizon literally visible. Especially with architectural models, this avoids strange and confusing off-level motion. But by pressing control (option on mac) you can temporarily suspend gravity to get a free rotation during orbit.

I ended up going with strucalc, price wasn't bad, plenty of youtube videos, and pretty straight forward learning curve.

I'll have to do some research to see if there is a way to update your list of extensions. It hasn't been an issue for me since I know they aren't installed. I rarely have a need to even look at that list.

Maybe this is what you're trying to describe. You could draw the drawer box using a rectangular path, a section profile, and Follow Me. Then draw a "cutter" to intersect at the corners. Imagine you could saw out the lock rabbet with a coping saw blade. The cutter is the path the blade would follow. Then separate the sides into components through careful selection. @dik harrison said: ... but I finally looked at what it would take to upgrade my 2017SU, ...$240 is more than I'm willing to fork over now... if an upgrade does cost U$ 240.- (= maintenance lapsed more than 1 year) you initially did not have bought 2017 but an older version and got one or two new major releases for free during the maintence period... ... be aware, that if the maintenance lapses more than 3 years no further upgrade will be possible, i.e. upgrading requires to buy a full new license.

I suggest you redo a clean installation of LibFredo6. Obviously, your update did go wrong somewhere. If you post a capture of your Sketchup Plugins directory, I think I could tell you what's wrong. Fredo

I have no idea what happened before I got the file but when I got it I found things were 'upside down', so components were coming in on their top not their base. So I did reset the axis and flipped the house upside down. So Now: I have reset the axis and I find it is 'in the sky' and a long way behind the house. So I have moved the house to the original axis and I can now see the the back-front faces of the house are off by about 7.86 degrees. I have adjusted it and now all is good I think. Thank you TIG for pointing me in the right direction. Liz

What is the button's assignment in the Wacom control panel? Did you recently upgrade the drivers? If it had been working well before and just suddenly stopped, you need to look at what has changed. SketchUp didn't change--they don't send out automatic updates like Apple does, for example--so you should look elsewhere. Did you update the OS version recently? What version are you running?

Unless you saved the file at some point to create an initial SKP file, I don't think the autosaved untitled file gets saved.

TIG, I bow to your expertise, and will reinstall SU at some point. For now it is working well, no more SKB's, no problems. I still do not understand why, of the many times and many computers I have installed SU on over the years, without using "run as administrator", it did not cause problems with these installs. I am not questioning the wisdom or correctness of your advice and recommendations, I'm certainly not qualified to do that. I just like to understand the whys and wherefores of things when I can. I guess I could just chalk it up to being lucky, but that's just not the way things go for me Again, thanks Steve

@pipinek said: @gilles said: A quick method.... Note that you may have to modify camera angle and the distance of the POV to see all the "reflection". Merci beaucoup Gilles, c’est exactement ce dont j’ai besoin. I will digest it and make some exercises. The effect is really satisfying. At least this virtual one above. I you do not mind I will far probably allow myself to contact you for, eventually some precision and of course proudly show you the final result of my work within SU. You have mentioned at the beginning that this has been a quick way, what should be the 'slow' one? Is it possible to reduce a distance between the facade and the most far point of its projection on the horizontal surface in front of it, I mean the highest point project of the elevation? You have advised to use 0.001 scale factor, what if I use meters as units? I am really thankful for your elucidation such well illustrated, explained. I wrote " A quick method:" because it's fast. Scale as nothing to do with units, 0.001 is 1/1000 whatever the unit just to see the face and being able to manipulate it without over zooming. "Is it possible to reduce a distance between the facade and the most far point of its projection on the horizontal surface in front of it, I mean the highest point project of the elevation?" I set the Point Of View to see everything on the screen, but in reality do not forget that your eyes are not static and you can reduce the distance between the facade an the POV but what will you see on the screen? Experiment then feedback. Note: I won't have internet for a week, take your time. Happy new year.

Thanks for the hand holding Tig Repair sounded a lot better then re install! Looks like it helped, exporting is back to how it should be but those measurements are gone, but the problem is probably fixed!
