I downloaded 2018 for a look. Now every time I download from 3D warehouse it opens in 2018, but I want it to open in 2017. If I download in SU 18 and save as 2017 it says the file was made in a later version and will not let me open it. I am perplexed does anyone have a work around? without uninstalling 2018 which I will do after the trial period.

      Cheers

you can download several SU format versions incl. SU v2017 directly from the 3DWH by opening the detail page of the component.

"File > Save as..." from inside SU v2018 to the file format version of an older version as e.g. 2017 should always work, try again.

The file association of the SKP file format is assigned to the SU version installed latest. Formerly the SU version used latest grabs the file association again but this might be Windows only and/or not be valid any more? Installing SU v2017 again should fix this behaviour anyhow.

Although that should work, you really shouldn't need to do an reinstall, just to fix up the "file association". See, for example

It works only in theory. In practice, Windows always opens with the latest exe.
@Liam: you should download appropriate file version (<= 2017). then right click on file icon and choose open with Sketchup 2017. Alternatively, if you are not buying v2018, just uninstall it.
