Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

It could be that your laptop isn't up to the task of handling the file. As I wrote before, "Not responding" means SketchUp is trying to process something in the model file and it is taking time, most likely because of the CPU but there could be other bottlenecks in the processing. Maybe it's time for a new computer. Maybe it's also time to upgrade SketchUp. Since 2016 there has been a fair amount of performance optimization changes that make handling large files easier and faster.

It's quite a common problem, usually caused by Windows pushing bad Graphic card drivers. First thing to try is to download the most recent driver for your graphic card from the card manufacturer. Do not trust windows to tell you it is up to date.

I don't see any image but what you describe is indicative of incorrect axis orientation. Change the axis orientation so the red/green plane is parallel to the gluing face on the component.

Writing script is way above my paygrade, as was your explanation. Thanks for trying to help. I'm just a bit thicker than that. @pcmoor said: Copying groups with attributes creates groups that are connected, you would need to make them unique via a script [attachment=0:2tp8ykp5]<!-- ia0 -->Capture.JPG<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:2tp8ykp5] It may be best to make components, then right click make unique, you could experiment with reset scale or scale definition, which ever is best suited for the situation.

Steven, you do realize this thread is more than 10 years old and the OP's last visit here was in 2014, right?

As far as background objects go, would it work for you to create a group and do your work on a face within the group and "hide rest of model" selected?

Wow! That looks great But I think it would work only with models that are made with triangles of the same size and shape. I am working on setup, that (maybe) will be able to triangulate complex organic shapes. I do not know if it will work how I need but I will post a result here.

I have one of the scanect mark 2 scanners, I took them about 6 months to get the apps sorted out, so many little problems, bad battery life , unable to calibrate About a month ago we got it all dialed in,but still we’re having problems I’m on complete lock down for 2 weeks so I’ll play with it more Anyone else out there into scanning yet?

What extension are you trying to install? How did you try to install it? What version of SketchUp are you using? Your profile says it's 2019 Free/Make but that's impossible because there is no such version.

I don't know of any extensions that will "tween" objects. You could create an animation using Fredo's Animator extension https://sketchucation.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=401 or if not too complex Sketchup scenes.

And for us Mac users, there is no equivalent erase tool in any standard toolbar (aka "palette"). But, like DaveR, I just press the delete key. I have a lot of shortcut keys set up, and have become so accustomed to using them that moving the mouse away from the model and then clicking on a tool icon seems like more effort to me! That said, having an explicit button to click can be very valuable in tutorials and animations shared in sites like this, as it seems like magic occurred if you press an off-screen key.

@pilou said: a brute method Thx Fredo6 and its versatile Curviloft Kill surfaces and segments for keep only circular curves you can make the same with other if you want truncated conic volumes [image: like-thatt.jpg] Funny i have made a conic form few days ago for the free Simlab Composer Lite (max 1920 *1080) (geometric caterpilar curves + spheres ) [image: carterpilar.jpg] Thanks! I used the Skinning tool and that did exactly what I wanted; creating a surface along the arcs I created to get a smooth transition from the lozenge to the circle. Thanks so much for helping out. I am not back on track!

If wishes were fishes.... Considering the iPad Pro use iOS and SketchUp doesn't support that, it is probably a non-starter.

Adding to and echoing pbacot's excellent advices, I hope this might also be of use. I would stick with the native SU tools and get a thorough grip on what can be done with them. Have a look at some of the YouTube videos; Justin Geis's TheSketchupEssentials has a lot of good information. There are, of course, many different approaches to terrain modelling but with the Sandbox tools in mind, using a combination of these could help rather than using just the one tool. Definitely keep your building footprint and hard landscape as separate groups or components. I have done some work on your original SKP and hope that it will be more illuminating than what would be a rambling commentary on what I did! Essentially, I drew the required outlines on a flat surface above the model and used the Drape tool to indicate where to cut into the terrain and re-build with the drop curb and sloped driveway. If you would like to PM me I will try and answer any queries. Terrain Testing SB 2015v.skp [image: wIQB_03.jpg] [image: Mag8_04.jpg]
