I should have put an age cross-factor in the poll, to see if it is only us old guys who use large icons.

C'mon! I'm not old !!! Judging after your picture, I could be your son ! 🤣

What to take into consideration - if you sampled the actual SU user base I'd think the great majority uses Large as it's the default. But the people to venture here at SCF and are active and reply to the poll - are more likely to be people to tweak and customize SU. So where do you believe your user base belongs to?

I was one of the votes that didn't know you could do this, exactly where are the settings to change this? With all the useful plugins of late, I'm quickly running out of screen real estate.

View -> Toolbars -> Large Toolbar (At the bottom of the toolbar list) Uncheck to make icons small.

I alternate between large and small. When using my laptop with my 24" monitor - working from home, I use the large icons. When on the road with the lap top - I use the small. Nice to have the option to give a bit more real estate on the 15.6" screen. Also I use the large icons on my office desk top (with a 24" screen).

And Al, I am one of the old guys - but I have a pair of "computer" glasses that lets me use small icons on the laptop with a 1200x800 resolution

I use LARGE icons and I use Custom Toolbars Plugin http://sketchuptips.blogspot.com/2008/06/custom-toolbars-release-08-06-01.html to have just icons that I use. For other commands I use Keyboard Shortcuts.

Thanks for pointing out this script. People need to remind us of good scripts once in a while. 😄

Yeah, I'm not old either...Most people who use sketchup are teens.

how do you know this? did you take a poll? 😆

Al, i would say just make big icons. wouldn't SU automatically scale them down anyway if people choose small?

                        Hi folks.

I use small icons to be able to fit more tools in less space. Being 56 do not means that I necessarily need large icons 😉

To choose the size of icons you can also use Menu Window --> Preferences --> Workspace.

                        Just ideas.
