Edge Loop

Hi,

i have a cylinder and wanted to add some divisions to it. the only way i found to do it, is to take the pen tool and paint a "ring" around. isnt there a better way? In Maya for example there is a function called "insert edge loop".

Offset tool ?
Tools on Surface plugin lets you draw onto 3D surfaces easily ?
If it's a ring that's parallel with the top/bottom copy the top's edges - select+move+ctrl-key, constrain copying in axis using shift-key... a new edges ring will be made.
If you made it by PushPulling then using ctrl-key when making it will leave ring from original face behind too...
