As far as sub components, it would be any sub components that reference the axis of the most top level component. And sub component that references an axis from another sub component that is below the top level wouldn't need to be changed.

Well, I finally took the time to make this really work. Starting and finishing angles are measured in radians, measured counter clockwise from the +x axis. I needed to add 360 to the finishing angle. When: vector = Geom::Vector3d.new 0,0,1 @vector2 = Geom::Vector3d.new 1,0,0 @vector3 = vector.normalize! The correct arc is drawn by: my_arc = @entities.add_arc [@entity[0]+@block_x, @entity[1]+@block_y, @entity[2]+@block_z], @vector2, @vector3, @entity[3], (@entity[4]*Math::PI)/180, ((360+@entity[5])*Math::PI)/180 @block_? is the location of the block/group from the origin. When an entity, its value is 0.0, nothing. Only problem now, is that the data from my Cad's DxfOut, and Acad's seems to be different. I have to check the spec. by their version numbers, but I can't believe they have changed that much.>_< But "Oh well", that's why I am writting this s*^&&y app.:-) Addenda: I found this variable tags 210, 220, and 230 (extrusion direction) wherein my Cad's DxfOut is [0,0,-1], and the default Acad's is [0,0,1]. What's an extrusion direction? Addenda: z=-1 in [x,y,z] seems to mean that the arc is mirrored around the world view origin. It appears that when z=1 in [x,y,z], the arc is mirrored on the y axis, and set by (see the green (-)) below: my_arc = @entities.add_arc [%(#008000)[-]@entity[0]+@block_x, @entity[1]+@block_y, @entity[2]+@block_z], @vector2, @vector3, @entity[3], (@entity[4]*Math::PI)/180, ((360+@entity[5])*Math::PI)/180

I haven't had a chance to try some of those but the multi-offset is a great start. What would be awesome is a ruby that would group my selected faces, then select all the faces in that group, run multi-offset ruby, then then run the select inverse ruby. That would get me all set to move the faces out. If it could also move the faces out 1" that would be even better. I took a look at a couple of the scripts to see if I might be able to mash them together but I simply can't figure out ruby enough to even do what seems like a simple task of combining a couple scripts. -brodie

There is no Plugin for this. It has been discussed before and a simple manual method advised http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=252654#p252654

i dunno, it seems easiest to me if you use chris fullmer's perpendicular face tools along with standard follow-me then solid union (or manually intersect/clean-up if you don't have SUpro) link to perp face tools [flash=660,405:3qptt0z2]http://www.youtube.com/v/Kq53IXsQ1aY?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0&color1=0x2b405b&color2=0x6b8ab6&border=1[/flash:3qptt0z2]

I've used it with great results. It exported all the objects and materials. I tried a couple of complete rooms with dozens of objects and materials and it worked fine. It also comes with an export feature to render the scene with Luxrender. from a newbie point of view. I imported into Bryce and Carrara as well.

Charly and edson. If only your system could be automated. Maybe it would be possible to have some sort of description manager script that would take a short description each rb. maker puts inside the plugin and add to a document like a spreadsheet. Each time you download an rb. or run the script it updates your ruby descriptions, which could have links. This would be outside of SU I guess, not a real manager. (Not a programmer myself)

It may be some ruby conflicting issue or permission problem. Just speaking from my own experience with SU8 and SU2Thea - for me this combination seems to run better than SU7. Please, continue this in Thea support forums http://www.thearender.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=82&t=3562&start=10

Gentlemen: My take on SPfireengineer's question was that would it be possible to make the model take on the attributes of real solid materials for the purposes of evaluating and calculating behavior of those solids in a real fire, such as thermal movement through the material, behavior in hose stream tests, flame retardance, temperature rise, and so forth. Did I miss the point?

@thomthom said: Btw, the API docs are lying: I knew it. I knew it! No of course I didn't. Thank you much. You are right it will do the same thing as the slider, but I am hoping for more fine-control inserting the values. The slider is really akward to control especially when you are doing elevation drawings and want to fade out the background. Thanks again. You are the man thomthom. G

This is just my observation from personal use. If one were to regard the model environment as a stage scene with a camera in first person mode, it would become clear that the cursor, whether in zoom or orbit or select directs that camera where to look. Clicking on empty space confuses the camera function and its directives become random. I have noticed this while zoomed in tight and then activating orbit-- suddenly my scene sweeps far away from where I was. Or scrolling out can sometimes do the same thing. Bottom line. The camera needs definitive input or it behaves randomly.
