    Hi, not familiar with the plugin you mentioned but you might want to check [Re]Scene which also is capable of renaming all your scenes. http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=472206#p472206 Cheers!

    I'll take a look at those. I'm a furniture designer and I'm so busy I seldom have time to look at plugins although I know they would make my life easier. Thanks again Dave!!!

    @gullfo said: if you do this often, maybe create a generic set of materials with the names and colors desired (i do this for lumber, metal etc frame materials as well as "sheet" so they can be used in cutlist for example). one caveat is the color of the material cannot be the same as another otherwise they collide - e.g. taking Color007 and renaming it "Charcoal" and saving it as such, then loading the model, you'll see Color007 overriding the renamed one. so you need to tweak the color slightly. hopefully in a future version of SU they'll fix this behavior so the name of the material guides it's inclusion. In my case there are just so many variations of materials and textures that a generic set wouldn't be feasible. It's a good idea though. Thanks.

    No. It will use Internet Explorer under Windows regardless of what browser you have installed. This is because SketchUp uses the OS's HTML render engine.

    @larryg said: any easy way to covert rounded shapes back to square? no basically, it requires a little forethought.. make a copy of the geometry prior to rounding it so it can be replaced if need be.

    Strange. I've been using the Wudworx tools since before its release and I've never seen that error. I wonder what caused it.

    I found this old thread and thought I would add an update. I've been working with the author of NGPlant to implement collada export. The latest version is pretty neat and creates trees with instanced leaves as SU components. NGP is a cool application. It's an open source cross platform WYSIWYG tree generator. More info here:- http://ngplant.sourceforge.net I created some video tutorials on Vimeo for building trees with NGP. The tricky thing is to get realistic trees with a manageable poly count.

    Will be very cool with the Radial Move by CPlassais ! And with the "tricky one liner" for the ruby console by TIG (which makes each faces selected as a component)! m=Sketchup.active_model;n=m.active_entities;m.selection.to_a.each{|e|(g=n.add_group(e);g.to_component.definition.name="Face#1")if e.class==Sketchup;;Face}

    Being sold away from Google made SketchUp more free. And in that spirit it sits now in %(#000000)[SketchUp/SketchUp 2013].

    DaveR Yes, I'm sure that there have been lots of problems in the past with people not being able to get their head round the 'plugin' file structures required by some plugins, and so a more automated system is a welcome improvement. However, "easier for users to find and install tools" - I would suggest that finding the tools is now NOT easier. I spent hours looking for 'solar north' and still ended up going out of SU and using the google search engine to find it - surely that says something. The system has become fragmented. I suppose I have been using 'solar north' for so long under previous versions (before SU2013), that I had not realised that it was a plugin (or is it an 'extension'?). David

    Dynamic-Loading: Several of Fredo's tools are construed in such a way that if you install them using the AutoInstall feature [OR even manually install from an RBZ archive] then you will need to restart SketchUp to see the changes that they bring... Most plugins can be 'dynamically-loaded', and these will give their new functionality immediately they are loaded, but some - like Fredo's - do require a restart Permissions: The AutoInstaller will have checked if there are permission issues, but some subtle limitations might still escape this checking... so it's always best to manually check and ensure that you have given FULL security-permissions to the Plugins folder for ALL users: especially, immediately after you make a new installation of SketchUp - when Windows has a nasty habit of initially limiting security-access to any new 'Program Files' folders/subfolders to protect you from yourself !! ...

    Yeah that sounds right. Also (if your putting together some code) be aware that pushpulled_face = face.pushpull "distance" will return nil. So to get newly pushpulled faces you have to create 2 arrays. 1: with faces Before pushpull and 2: after pushpull, then subtract array1 from array2. (TIG has some code posted in detail for this, lying around in the developper section somewhere...) Obviously if you have the geometry grouped this process will be faster you since dont have to traverse the whole model.
