    That's looking nice, hmmm, sip. You can also try increasing your refraction depth so you have fewer of the dark reflections in the liquid. If you're using caustics, you could add some point lights to get sharper caustics.

    I meant that I don't even have V-Ray loaded at all. I find it to add too much too SU startup time - and there are bugs when copying geometry between models when VfSU is loaded.

    also when you create a material you can save this and reuse it in the next projet. you can also do your variations and save it or you can start from a library material and modify it and save the variation to a new material.. so why not?

    I cant download the file. PM it to me I can suggest a few things, first is that you need to empty the cache under the vray plguins menu. you can attach the .skp to the posts as well

    that second image looks helpful. have you tried checking whether your geolocation and timezone are consistent? for example i remember having problems with sunlight and shading when i placed a model somewhere in Central Europe, but my timezone was set to UTC -7.

    Thank you sir for these tips. I managed to do the curtain with displacement, not quite succesfully in vray for SU but Vray for max. Using the same map, Max does it quite fast too. Your chain curtain looks much more complicated. Mine is just ball chain. Thanks anyway. [image: e9v1_exhibit_1.jpg]

    Interesting to see someone actually using toon. I think most SU folks find more control in exporting a 'linework' layer and compositing it in Photoshop. Saves all that time setting up toon materials also.

    Try clicking the "m" button (Mapping) next to the Reflection color and adding a fresnel effect. You are making the face a perfect mirror, and as such, you are getting the whole plane reflecting the color of the sky/background, and NOT a reflection on top of your diffuse color. Dave

    Did you have a red material in your model? I would say that you can never really trust an override render to give you a true idea of your lighting in your final because light will be bounced off of materials and change the tones in your image. For example, a red floor would give off a bunch of redish light (unless you override it in the materials GI).

    Hello everyone This topic here is a bit older, but I have exactly the same problem. First .. sorry, my english isnt the best Using Sketchup8 and Vray newest version. I'm trying to create a photorealistic carpet (Lambswool) as well as a stone wall inside a building. Usually it works fine, but not this time. So note .. everything is seperated grouped, that shouldnt cause my problem. I was trying to render my scene to see how the displacement works. (using displacement and bumpmap for my carpet). But when I render, the carpet material still looks flat, nothing to see of displacement. Really my first thought was 'its not grouped' .. but it is. So the problem must come from another wrong setting I did or so. I'm wondering that I cant set any multiplier on my displacement map. Where is this button?? It should be right below the texbitmap button, but look at my screenshot ..theres no multiplier. Tried to play with the displacement settings after it didnt work, but cant get it to work. Displacement settings:# 8 (tried up to 80) Max sub: 256 Edge L.: 4,0 So changed values several times in order to get it work finally. But nothing happened. Carpet still looks flat and does not show any of displacement. Rendering takes long, but I know it has to when I use displacement, so thats not the point. I really guess the multiplier causes my problem. But how to change multiplier value when theres no button for? Or is it hidden somewhere else in the new version of Vray so I just didnt find it yet? Thanks guys, hope you can help me to fix this .. I dont get it to work since 2 days - 2days/ 12hrs per only busy with one problem and dont get my work done best wishes!     Also, if you have 1.49.01 you can move the reflection layer above your emmissive layer and you will get a light bulb effect. 1.05.30 cannot do this but I dont know why the heck anyone would still be using that version.
