I am looking into this new technology at it has it's uses. I have read that it comes most useful in iternational competitions, where you have to render 20 to 40 versions of a big model in the same day. For a freelancer or a small firm, it comes handy when time is a problem: you upload, apply materials (and even scene props like trees cars and people) and launch the render. In little time you will have a very good looking render of the scene you uploaded. I read an inside interview on on of the creators of felix, and he said his clients are people like zaha hadid and norman foster

For me the challenge right now, is to find a way to make terrain from topo curves, in blender. I saw many tutorials, but I'm trying to find a process similar to the Sandbox in Sketchup...Sometines I'm tired with all SU gaps, so when I find time I'm trying to learn Blender, which seems to be the better alternative for me...for various reasons.

Thanks for posts. I try to make a model of actual vegetation. It means, that I import a photo of terrain into sketchup, project it onto terrain made of contour lines and where I see a "green spot", there is a tree. So I placed a component onto the terrain on these spots and I would like to replace them with trees in Vue. Ii is truth, I could make the same direct in Vue.

I've figured it out, thanks everyone for the help. In Fryrender I can achieve single glass by using the ghost glass as cadmunkey mentioned. To change the colour of the glass I used layers, it seems everything not basic in fryrender is achieved with layers. If there is such a thing in Indigo I am guessing that is how it would be done as well.

@unknownuser said: That looks amazing, I am going to DL the latest version and give it a go. How may lights can you control? Upload some pics if you get something good. And/or let us know how you felt about it. You can currently control eight groups of lights. We are petitioning the developers to add more channels. I'm sure they are tired of hearing from me, but if a user wanted to make some positive comments on the nXt Forum and mention that more channels would be useful, it might help.

@xrok1 said: nice, i like it but one would have to see an interface and test it with different renderers before a value could be determined. So far I've lived a renderer-free life. For your needs, SketchUp's rendering is inadequate? May I ask why?

Did you notice the related video on the page at right? Some kind of arrangement involving an array of cameras, reference dots on the fingers and a car sponge for a model proxy. A bit involved. As for the SCULPTOR hand held device, I would imagine that fatigue would set in, if not "tennis elbow", which I seem to have now in my right arm due to "mouse stress". I am sure the developer will come up with a solution.

@martinph said: ..why didn't I see this before? Sigh... I'm seriously considering getting this anyway. Congratulation to you and your team Al! Thanks Martin. I just sent you a PM with a link to our Competitive Discounts page if that will help lower the pain you are suffering. We are adding some great features to the Beta test version this afternoon, such as lighting channels, which let you adjust the intensity of individual lights after the rendering is completed. No, you can just update by reimporting parts of the SU model. Even texturemapping and assignments are kept while importing. Its actually very simple and fast. I just came to work like this since the current SU plugin for Maxwell was not functional anymore with the new v2 of Maxwell. So I had to work with Studio which so far I had avoided as much as possible. But forced to work from Studio I slowly came to the conclusion that Studiois a very powerful app to use in combination with Sketchup. Sketchup is bad with big models which is something Studio is very good at. Francois

I would like to make a coment about the price of those renderings. Here where I live, in the most violent city in the planet, people working as a freelance make renderings at the price of $50 US dollars, and those renderings are posted on panoramic advetisings panles. The main reason is, the piracy, a lot of people never would buy or pay a dollar for a good model (trees, furnitures, sky), so they would never pay $1000 US dollars for a legal copy of a fine software. I meet someone in a forum of a NPR rendering software, and I knew some one who call him self freelance, and he uses a Illegal copy of the software, I don't understand how? after geting money from that software (because is a freelance) can't pay for a legal copy?. In most of the forums of rendering software, they allow every body to join, and there at the forums, people who uses ilegal copies, learn how to make good renderings, or found support from the other members at the forums. I don't understand why? Well these are my thoughts.
