It can be confusing and you really need to read a bit before you get the hang of things, but who wants to read when they have a question to ask. Share and learn means, share a tutorial or learn by watching one. There is a pinned post almost at the top of the section pointing out that it is only for tutorials. https://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=8229#p48563 I'm sure there used to be an 'about' saying this but I'm not seeing it easily. So basically look for an appropriate subforum for your questions, that keeps things tidy and easier to find. The one you suggested would work for this question or even the nebie forum it has been moved to by one of the moderators. Often you question will relate to something specific, dynamic component, an extension, sketchy physics etc and then it is obvious but others can be more general, by avoiding the ones it is not you narrow it down to the few more general ones. It's not overly important but it is good housekeeping and makes life easier for all in the long run. Very few people get it right from the start.

If the objects are not grouped or components, selecting all and then using the bucket or dragging a material from the material window works. Of course it works for groups too where no color has been applied to the faces inside the group, but that's not usually good texturing practice, may be OK for you. Thru paint plugin is pretty much like painting. just hold down the mouse button and run over the objects: depending on your settings it will paint faces INSIDE groups and components as you go. It's a very good and deep plugin. Almost as fast as selecting it all and applying a color. Now as you say "automate", maybe this is a code development question.

I don't understand what you are trying to accomplish. Can you share an image of something that looks like what you are trying to do?

If they are 'groups' a simple Ruby script could convert them into components... BUT at this point, please explain what you want to achieve, very clearly...

Hi Craig, welcome to the forum! It's great to see some other countrymen here. I bought BlendUp (June 2015) back when it was first released. The intent was to use it as a bridge to Blender for rendering purposes. I converted a few files with it and it worked as promised. I got newer versions as they were released, the last I have on record is v1.4 (not sure what it is at now) and didn't need to renew any licenses or subscriptions or such. I'm not sure about compatibility with the latest SketchUp versions, so I can't comment there, the documentation refers to SU2016 but may be so because of when it was last updated (or the last version I have). I don't have Blender on my system any longer (and don't have BlendUp installed as a result) so I can't test it with SU2018Pro. Speaking of which, I see you're on SU 2017 Make (as per your profile). Please be sure to consider getting a Pro licence as it seems you may be using SU for commercial purposes (as per licencing restrictions of the Make version).

Sometime "auto-intersections" can be solved by Solid Solver by TIG or Solid Inspector by Thomthom! Generally when you have "auto intersections" you have not a slimmy path so not very natural! In the past boats' hull are drawn with that! ( a cool free prog! PolyCad [image: BaseLineCurve_B2_a.jpg]

I think I'd suggest they use the viewer instead. @pbacot said: I thought I might use it to look at forum files that I can't open because I use an older version, which seems to work. Thanks! That's not a bad idea. I like the viewer. Seems like an online version for THAT would make sense.Or an executable export that worked like it. I use an older version of SketchUp to work in collaboration with others using the older version without having to save it backwards

Okay. SOLVED! It took me quite a while to find out how the system works according to Dave's proposal: To multiply the whole grid means you have to multiply floor AND furniture as well. I was stuck thinking of nesting the furniture in the floor component...And yes, you have to make a fix size of the furniture by inserting "=" followed by the values of the axis. Keep in mind when you work in a metric system you have to erase the complete unit (i.e. "cm" for example). Not necessesary in inches. Last question: How can you set this blog to solved? Picky

@max58 said: ........ I mean I want to resize only lenght and not the diameter of element. Which tool can i use ? In which way ? I would use the 'Move'tool on a (selection of) rod(s) that need to be moved. You can move the rod from its current position to where you create a guide (parallel to the rod).

One of the main benefits of Dave's suggestion of Tig's image trimmer is that the trimmed png will cast a correct shadow rather than a block.

Thank you all Any tipp also for the.max files? Or shoudl I simply convert them? And I noticed that the more I reduce the mesh number, the more the model starts to be rotten, with parts missing, etc, as I tried it in Rhino. Any suggestion regarding that? Thank you so much and wish you a nice day!
